These programs are appropriate for adults and can be scheduled for your group by contacting Faith Boehmer at (910) 486-9700. Chosen is appropriate for ages 13+. In 2012, the CAC trained 1,201 adults through these prevention programs.

What We Do
Our Vision: A Community where children live in a safe and nurturing environment free from sexual and physical abuse.
Our Mission: Joining hands with community partners, we provide a safe and child friendly Center that supports the prevention, investigation and prosecution of child abuse.
During FY 2013, the Child Advocacy Center served 465 children and their families and, by our coordinating efforts, saved the community an estimated $500,000.

You're Not Too Late

North Carolina is rich in history. A visit to the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum or North Carolina Veterans Park will convince you of that in just a matter of minutes. North Carolina also boasts of some well-known personalities like Andy Griffith, Elizabeth Dole and Michael Jordan. Another personality familiar to North Carolina is Jason Michael Carroll who performed at Festival Park this past summer.
Carroll, the son of a preacher, grew up in Youngsville, North Carolina, in Franklin County not far from Raleigh. He is probably best known for his debut single, "Alyssa Lies." "Alyssa Lies" is a song about abuse. In an interview, Carroll said he felt led to write the song but it still took almost three years to craft it to his satisfaction. The Child Advocacy Center would like to thank the following high school seniors who have volunteered with the CAC for many years: Elizabeth Adkins and Josie Taris from Jack Britt High School, Jessica Murphy from Cape Fear High School and Will Zahran from Terry Sanford High School. These four young adults have helped the CAC in so many ways. They have worked in the office, manned the CAC display at community events, organized groups in their schools to raise funds to purchase the material and make comfort blankets for the children, emceed the Break the Chain of child abuse... Named Room Opportunity

The Child Advocacy Center offers naming opportunities to those who wish to honor or memorialize a family member, friend, or business with an xtraordinary and special gift. Such named gifts provide a meaningful way to honor a business or individual while benefitting the significant work of the CAC. The Cumberland County Bar Association recently honored Judge Beth Keever with a named room plaque that will be displayed outside the Forensic Interviewer's Office. Presenting the plaque to Judge Keever is CAC Board Member Tim Edwards.

T-Shirts for Sale
Child Advocacy Center T-shirts are available for $10. Sizes available: Youth Medium, Youth Large, Adult Small, Medium, Large, X-large and 2XL. Youth shirts are teal and adult shirts are red. Proceeds benefit the Center's child abuse and prevention programs. Call or stop by the Center to purchase a shirt.
NC State Employees Combined and the Combined Federal Campaign
The CAC will participate in both the SECC and CFC. Our SECC number is 1807 and our CFC number is 37137. We are very grateful for your designations.
CAC Organization Endowment Fund
The Board of Directors of the Child Advocacy Center has created an Organization Endowment at the Cumberland Community Foundation. Show your lasting support of the Child Advocacy Center by contributing to the Child Advocacy Center Endowment. Donations to the Endowment Fund may be sent directly to the Cumberland Community Foundation. Please indicate on your check that your contribution is for the Child Advocacy Center Endowment. Speakers' Bureau
As you plan your year of speakers for civic, faith and community organizations, don't forget the CAC has a group of volunteers who are eager to speak on the problem of child abuse and what individuals can do to prevent and stop it. Please call the center at 910-486-9700 to schedule a speaker.

The Child Advocacy Center sends a huge thank you to the models, parents, volunteers, sponsors and all those who attended the 7th annual American Girl Fashion Show® held on Mar. 22 & 23. Under the outstanding leadership of committee co-chairs Julia Adkins, Cindy Williams, Carol Jones and Robbie Strickland, net proceeds from the event were $64,395. 151 local and regional girls participated in the show. A very special thank you also goes to our top three model fund raisers; Kendall Strickland, Kensley Strickland and Jaimie Buenaseda.

Honoring Cumberland County's Champion for Children

Break the Chain of Child Abuse annual event was held on March 21 with more than 500 children and adults gathered at the Charlie Rose Agri-Expo Center. The purpose of the event was to focus the students' and community members' attention on the importance of preventing child abuse and to advocate for an end to child abuse and child maltreatment in our community. This annual event culminated with the entire audience linking together paper chains around the auditorium. The chain was torn apart symbolizing "breaking the chain of child abuse".
During the event the Champion for Children awards were presented.
The winner in the Professional Category was Margaret "Buntie" Russ.
The winner in the Volunteer Category was Lydia Short.
The winner of the Agency/Group Category was Cumberland County Schools Social Workers/Social Work Services.
