Secrets from Latil's Landing

Sassafras Creole Cream Cheese Ice Cream

Makes 1 quartIce Cream

 

2 (12 ounce) Cartons of Creole Cream Cheese

2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream

1 1/2 Cups of Sugar

3 Egg Yolks

   Pinch of Cinnamon and Nutmeg

2 Tablespoons of Vanilla

1 Tablespoon File Gumbo Powder

 

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly. Place ice cream mixture into an ice cream machine and blend according to the machine's instructions.

Romance is in the air at Houmas
House. Wedding season is upon us. Beautiful brides are twirling through the gardens during bridal portraits- almost giddy as they wear their veils for the first time.  Each weekend is full of multi colored bridesmaids dresses, bands playing music that fills the property with lively beats and playful riffs, and lots of cake and flowers. It's easy to feel the love this time of year.
It reminds me of my wedding at Houmas House 10 years ago. It was a grand affair that will forever be considered the most royal wedding at Houmas House.  We tell the story of my wedding day on our mansion tour. I hope you will hear it one day soon.  Until then, I wish you all the love and happiness this season!
