Mixed Roots Film & Literary Festival (TM)
2013
Greetings!

I'm excited to share with you some news about the future of the Mixed Roots Film & Literary Festival (TM) 2013.

In 2013, we'll be taking some time to reorganize and reinvigorate the organization with a dynamic team and improved infrastructure.  So instead of putting together one big event in June, we will have several smaller events over the course of the year and come back better and bigger in 2014.

One of the goals of the Mixed Roots Film & Literary Festival (TM) is to develop and encourage emerging artists.  In 2013, we will offer development workshops for emerging artists in literature and film that will cover the basics of the business and the how-to's of building an artist's resume.  We will also offer tips and information about publicity & social media marketing, grant-writing and networking.  The workshops will be taught by award-winning and national best-selling writers (including me) and celebrated and award-winning filmmakers and will be held througout the year.

In addition, we plan to beef up our social media presence so that we can continue to be in touch with each other throughout the year.  Be sure to visit our Facebook Page, and our Twitter feed!  And check back again in the new year to see the updates to our website.

Ken Tanabe  We'll also offer a series of talks featuring our alliance of artists--writers, filmmakers and actors--creating stories of the Mixed experience.  You'll meet some of your favorites and have a chance to be in dialogue with them about their work.  And we look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Hapa Japan Conference 2013 (details to come).

Finally, we're excited to once again host the West Coast's largest Loving Day event in June 2013.  Think good food, good company, and great family fun.  Stay tuned for details.

We look forward to seeing you in 2013!

Sincerely,
Heidi Durrow
