It's Time
To Get Off The Hamster Wheel!

Just being in motion will never get you to your Big. To do that, you need to be sure you're doing the right things, in the right order, for the right reasons.

Enter the Take Action Now System (tm).

This seven-step system clarifies the activities that are mission-critical to your success. It then walks you through a process for creating step-by-step action plans to implement those key activities.

The result? You get off the hamster wheel of motion-without-progress and get on a more direct route to more clients and more money.

Forget about being busy; start getting focused by downloading your no-charge PDF version of the Take Action Now System (tm) today.

Greetings!

"Passion" strikes me as a very over-used word these days. That's a pity, because, if there's one thing that helps business owners keep on keeping on, it's passion for what we do.

An ongoing challenge, even for passionate entrepreneurs, is to nurture your excitement for working in your sweet spot.  That excitement can fade or get lost in the shuffle so that you end up simply going through the motions of your day.  This can happen for several reasons:

  • you allow yourself to get caught up in "administrivia" (thanks, Cindy Daniels, for introducing me to this fabulous word)
  • you focus on your dislike for some of the nuts and bolts, rather than focusing on the delight of the outcome they produce
  • you're unwilling to admit that you've evolved and grown so that what suited you before is not right for you now
  • you're fried - physically, mentally, emotionally, and/or spiritually
  • [insert your particular challenge here]

If you feel like you're huffing and puffing these days, use the following tools to help you re-charge.

Tip of the Week

Step away.

Sometimes the best way to improve your results and get your head back in the game is to stop doing what you're doing.

I learned this during the hell of packing to move from Minnesota to Iowa.  Although we were on deadline with the movers and were up to our adenoids with huge To Do lists, we knew that sometimes the most effective and productive thing to do was to step away from the task at hand and take a break.  Even if it was just an hour away from the work, we came back fresher and less ready to rip someone's face off.
A Really Good Resource

It's a curious fact of life that many of us look for things we already have.  The problem is that we don't see them, don't celebrate them when we do see them, or perhaps don't even realize they're there.

If you suspect this may describe you, one of the best things you can do for yourself is read Alan Cohen's book, I Had It All the Time: When Self-Improvement Gives Way to Ecstasy.

I came across this work years ago, and it still has an honored place on my bookshelf.  Cohen basically believes that humans are a classic example of, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  In other words, he celebrates our wholeness and helps us do the same.  This, in turn, makes it easier to be fully engaged with life, rather than simply go through the motions.

As he says, "You are not a black hole that needs to be filled; you a light that needs to be shined."  Pretty good outlook on life, isn't it?
How's This for Success?
building on success

Sometimes we get so caught up in doing things the way we've always done them that we don't realize this same old/same old approach is hurting our business.  It takes courage and vision to do things differently so you get better results, but it's so worthwhile.  Just ask Darlene Dassy.

Darlene is a master resume writer and founder of Dynamic Resume Solutions.  While she was satisfied with the business she started 12 years ago, Darlene recently decided she was ready to be thrilled with it, and she committed to making that happen.

One area she addressed was management of her financials.  While she was doing an okay job of it, she knew it was time to get a whole lot better.  She tackled the uncomfortable job of designing and implementing a new system for tracking everything.  The result? Larger profit, greater confidence, more personal power.  Woohoo!

The Bottom Line

One way to just go through the motions is to keep creating and facing the Too Much To Do list that sneers at you every day.  I'm guessing that slogging through that list is both time consuming and energy sucking...and is it really getting you the results you want?

If not, maybe I can help. My focus in working with entrepreneurs and business professionals is showing them how to toss aside the low-payoff activities, farm out the high-payoff ones that they're not good at, then create and follow through on step-by-step action plans for the important tasks that only they can do.

If that sounds like something that could keep your head from exploding, call or e-mail me to set up a let's-see-what-we-see, get-acquainted call.

Wishing you joy on your journey into Big...
