It's Time
To Get Off The Hamster Wheel!
Just being in motion will never get you to your Big. To do that, you need to be sure you're doing the right things, in the right order, for the right reasons.
This seven-step system clarifies the activities that are mission-critical to your success. It then walks you through a process for creating step-by-step action plans to implement those key activities.
The result? You get off the hamster wheel of motion-without-progress and get on a more direct route to more clients and more money.
Forget about being busy; start getting focused by downloading your no-charge PDF version of the Take Action Now System (tm) today. |

Greetings!
My office is becoming a thing of beauty. It started out in a dingy, muddy taupe color, but now all the walls have been primed in fresh, bright white.
Priming walls before painting them is pretty satisfying - after all, no more muddy taupe - but what I'm really looking forward to is applying the final colors (teal green and a shade of aqua called "Spa" - way too much fun). However, I was happy to spend time priming; I know that, if I don't prepare the walls properly, I'll end up disappointed in the final result.
How many times do we, as entrepreneurs, opt to ignore the more mundane "priming" activities and jump right in to the "real" work? Preparation - whether priming walls for painting or doing market research before spending time and money launching a new product - is essential to ultimate success.
If you find yourself tempted to skip some "boring" steps in building your business, use the following tools to slow down and lay a solid foundation.

Tip of the Week
Measure twice, cut once.
Okay, so I lifted this from the construction trade, but it applies to
all professionals.
Entrepreneurs are, almost by definition, very creative types, and we love launching new ideas. The problem is that we often launch before knowing what we want to accomplish or even if it makes sense to go down this new path.
Taking time up front to research and plan will save time and stress and make money in the long run.

A Really Good Resource
One of the not-fun-but-really-important steps in preparing for a successful business is protecting your assets, and this is where effective business insurance comes in. Now, some of us (including me) would rather poke ourselves in the eye with a sharp stick than try to sound intelligent when talking about insurance. I'm fortunate to have received excellent service from independent insurance agents in both Minnesota and Iowa. The service has included explaining things to me in terms that even your average second grader can understand. If it's time to review your business insurance - or especially if you have yet to buy your first policy - you might check out the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. These professionals represent more than one insurance company, so they can typically offer you a wider range of options.

How's This for Success?
What do you do when the tools and resources you need are unavailable? You create them. That's exactly what my friend Tai ("tie") Goodwin did, and Launch While Working is the result.
Tai knew she wanted to run her own coaching/consulting business, and she quickly found herself working with clients who had paycheck jobs but were entrepreneurs at heart. They wanted to run their own businesses, based on their passion and purpose, but also needed a certain income.
Tai was frustrated at being unable to find tools to help these "employedpreneurs" create a successful business while still working as employees, so she created Launchology 101 and other resources for them. Now she's creating a brilliant life for herself while helping others do the same.

Thanks to my friend Flickr.
Here are this week's heroes who graciously allowed me to use their images, posted in the Creative Commons area of Flickr, in this issue of Stepping Into Big:
