It's Time
To Get Off The Hamster Wheel!

Just being in motion will never get you to your Big. To do that, you need to be sure you're doing the right things, in the right order, for the right reasons.

Enter the Take Action Now System (tm).

This seven-step system clarifies the activities that are mission-critical to your success. It then walks you through a process for creating step-by-step action plans to implement those key activities.

The result? You get off the hamster wheel of motion-without-progress and get on a more direct route to more clients and more money.

Forget about being busy; start getting focused by downloading your no-charge PDF version of the Take Action Now System (tm) today.

Greetings!

The older I get, the more I realize that I'm most likely to succeed in important endeavors by learning from others (so I don't re-invent the wheel) and by adapting their recommendations to my own strengths and style.

There's a real temptation these days to look to the latest guru for the magic bullet that will ensure our success.  While it's relatively easy to blindly follow someone else's recommendations, it's more effective in the long run to combine industry best practices with your own creativity.  This type of integration is not as easy as looking for and following a cookie-cutter approach, but it's more likely to pay dividends in the long run - and allow you to enjoy yourself in the process.

Next time you're wondering how to take advantage of your own abilities as well as other people's, try some of the following tools.

Tip of the Week

Forget "balance". Aim for integration.

You hear a lot about work/life balance, or creating a balance between business development activities and actually working with clients.

I suspect "balance" is a nice theory which has little to do with the real world.  Instead of making yourself crazy seeking balance, cut yourself some slack, instead, by allowing yourself to find ways to integrate your different responsibilities into your day.

You'll appreciate the stress relief that comes from letting go of the idea that the only way to be successful is to be balanced. Similarly, you'll enjoy the lightness and creativity that comes with knowing that there are many ways to achieve what you want by integrating personal with professional roles, business development with delivery of services, and experts' recommendations with your own skill set.
A Really Good Resource

There's more than one way to tap the expertise of people who have already gone where you want to go.

While it's always gratifying to work individually with a talented business consultant, it can be both useful and highly cost-effective to participate in group activities with them.

If you're starting to think about planning for next year, you might want to consider creating your Business Plan In A Day. On November 15th in Minneapolis, Deb Brown and Diane Conklin are teaming up to share advanced strategies for marketing and client retention.  Don't waste time re-inventing that dang wheel - let Deb and Diane show you how it's done!

There's a saying that "all roads lead to Rome." While some of the roads may be more winding than others, any road that gets you to your happy place is a good road. Joan Stewart is a case in point.

Joan is a publicity expert and the founder of The Publicity Hound (R). She's also one of those rare individuals who actually worked in the same field in which she studied: Having received a B.S. in Journalism, Joan spent 22 years as a newspaper reporter and editor.

Now, she might have reasonably expected to continue on that career path, but one day her future was unexpectedly freed up and she had a chance to start a consulting business. While this was a new and sometimes challenging road to follow, it ultimately led her to a very rewarding and profitable new career.

One indicator that she follows her own advice:  She shows up at the top of page one on Google when people search for "publicity expert."  Not a bad result for having turned off one path to pursue another.

The Bottom Line

There are wonderful business-building resources out there, which is great. What's not great is how many entrepreneurs fail to fully capitalize on those resources because they fail to implement the recommended tactics and strategies.

If your gut tightened up and your shoulders hunched on the phrase "fail to implement," I can loosen and un-hunch you.  My specialty is providing a flexibly structured approach to creating action plans that enable you to really take advantage of all your business-building resources.

If that sounds like something that could keep your head from exploding, call or e-mail me so we can set up a see-what-we-see, get-acquainted call.

Wishing you joy on your journey into Big...
