2014 Library Legislative Meet-ups

  • South Suburban Breakfast in Lockport, Friday, 14 February 2014
  • West Suburban Lunch in Oak Brook, Friday, 14 February 2014
  • North Suburban Breakfast in Buffalo Grove, Monday, 17 February 2014
  • Metro East Breakfast in Edwardsville, Friday, 21 February 2014

2014 Trustee Workshops

The ILA Library Trustee Forum 2014 workshops will focus on how to prepare your board for what lies ahead.  Morning programming includes "Sunshine Laws: How to Comply with the Open Meetings Act and the Freedom of Information Act" and "Defending Access with Confidence."  The afternoon will feature an update from ILA Legislative Consultant Kip Kolkmeier and a Q&A with library attorney Phil Lenzini.

Registration includes the workshop, continental breakfast, lunch, and two snack breaks.
  • Chicago Marriott Oak Brook, Saturday, February 15, 2014
  • Crown Plaza Springfield, Saturday, February 22, 2014

Join your academic colleagues from around the state for a day of education and networking on Friday, March 21.

With the growing trend in higher education to demonstrate value through student outcomes, it has become more important than ever for libraries to show our institutions what we do to contribute to student and faculty success.

Keynote Speaker Moe Hosseini-Ara, Director of Culture, City of Markham, Ontario, Canada will present "Telling the Impact Story - It's Not Just in the Numbers."

Do your performance measures really perform?  Do they tell the story for you, or are you struggling to figure out what story they're telling?  What's the difference between operational measures, performance measures and Impact measures?  Move from interpreting statistics to demonstrating value and relevance to your stakeholders and decision makers by using a framework that will allow you to tell the stories that matter, the impact story.
