| Illinois Libraries Matter: Lessons from Library Marketing | |
"We've all been there. Your library has a fabulous public event planned, and you've expended a great deal of time and money to make sure it will be one to remember. But two weeks before the event, the majority of the tickets you expected to give away are still sitting at your public service desks. Yikes!"
Like the old American Express commercials, you ask: "What do you do? What do you do?" If you're Shelley Campbell, Public Relations Specialist at the West Chicago Public Library, you know that a "personal touch" and one-to-one communication are very powerful tools in your arsenal as a library marketer. Campbell writes about her success using these tools to promote a classical music concert in West Chicago, in the latest post at Illinois Libraries Matter, the blog of the Marketing Committee of the Illinois Library Association. Check out Campbell's post, Kathy Dempsey's recent post on defining marketing terms correctly, and many other reports from the front lines of library marketing in Illinois. Subscribe to Illinois Libraries Matter, and receive new posts in your email each week. |
