MVR Update - End of Batch MVRs Delayed
|
The recent change in public access to driver license and MVR data maintained by the Department of Public Safety has created a great deal of controversy. The MIIAB has joined with a coalition of other affected parties, including insurance companies, auto dealers, bankers, newspapers, and of course, the private third party vendors of this data. Coalition members have contacted various government officials to express concerns about the elimination of bulk driver data.
As a result, the date for the discontinuance of providing bulk data to the public has been delayed from February 4th, to March 10th. This should give affected parties more time to discuss alternatives to the complete elimination of access to batch data or develop a possible legislative solution. I am not sure how this minor postponement will affect the various third party vendors that you may use for MVR data. You will need to check with them directly.
