From the President
There's more to the news than headlines!
The big, spectacular launches and splashes that mark the arrival of new travel products and services are exciting, even if they're not as frequent as they used to - but just as important is the quiet evolution of our business that goes on, with no massive fanfare, week in and week out. This week, we saw two significant travel events in Glasgow. Thomas Cook Airlines showed off its newly refurbished A330 long haul aircraft at GLA - by all accounts offering a real improvement in comfort. And Aer Lingus was in town to promote its transatlantic services through Dublin - offering the real time benefits of US Entry pre-clearance at DUB. These two are well-established partners in Scotland's travel scene; both have been around for many, many years, faithfully serving Scotland's business and leisure travellers, and I've no doubt whatsoever that both will be around for many years to come. Coming up in late November will be our third STAR event of the year - in Glasgow, showing the best of the huge variety of travel services that make Scotland such a vibrant travel scene.
Before STAR comes round again, though - if you've not already done so, please cast your votes for your favourite travel suppliers ahead of this year's SPAA Travel Awards - coming up in Glasgow on Thursday 5th November. You can download the two voting papers via our Facebook pages (click below). Of course, if you've not already reserved your place at the 2015 Awards (take a look at the Diary for the date and venue), now's the time to email Janice Hogarth at [email protected].
