Getting the balance right ...

In these days of 24 hour news and communication, it can sometimes be hard to tell when the need for 'news' is driving events, rather than events producing the news. Tragically, last week's evil events in Tunisia, France and Kuwait were in the latter category, and we shouldn't let this week's news allow us to forget that - not least in the case of Tunisia - for those involved the horror will live on forever. We have to continue to support them in every way we can.

This week, Greece is at the forefront of the 'real' news and no matter your political opinion, the resounding 'No' delivered by the Greek population in the referendum on austerity is further proof - if it were needed - that communication via social networking is changing how Government works. People power is growing all the time, and that means getting the balance right - governments not just telling people what is good for them, but making their argument and proving their case.
