We're just a few days away from the SPAA's big mid-year bash - Summer In The City - at Glasgow's Fruitmarket on Thursday, and there's a superb night in store. For the second year, we'll be supporting our designated charity - CHAS - which does such great work with very sick kids and their families in Scotland, and I know the big hearts of our Members will be more than ever in evidence on the night. SPAA folk are a generous bunch, and that applies to our Associates, too - without them, we couldn't put on such a great programme of events every year.
Summer In The City is sponsored by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, Travelport and Classic Collection - and of course Qatar Airways, who are putting up two worldwide Business Class tickets, including taxes and charges, in the Grand Draw. What a prize, and see you there, I hope!
It's a long, hot Summer and the World Cup is well under way. Great excitement, fantastic spectacle - but these big set piece events are always enjoyment and frustration combined. There's no doubt they have a big dampening effect on business in the run-up and while they're under way - so while there's terrific football to watch, whoever you support (and I do wish England well!), it'll be a relief when it's over, and we can get back to normal business - at least until the Commonwealth Games comes along.
In the meantime, my message to all our Members is - it'll be great to see you at Summer In The City, and to the lucky prize-winners on the night ...
Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllll !
