Prop 46 MICRA Initiative Campaign Begins

Prop 46 would raise the current MICRA cap on non-economic damages from $250,000 to $1 million and require drug testing for physicians. The opposition campaign led by the CMA and Californians Allied for Patient Protection which includes a variety of health care groups like the CRS, has been joined by an increasing number of other interests like local governments and SEIU that see the increase in health care costs that Prop 46 would generate. Radio and TV ads have begun to run across the state. The press release for the No on Prop. 46  can be found here: http://www.noon46.com/the-real-story-video/

You can view the television spot here and hear the radio here. Spanish versions of the same can be heard here and here, respectively. The ads, "Risk" (TV: 30 secs.) and "Real Story" (Radio: 60 secs.) are introductory pieces highlighting who has sponsored and funded Prop. 46. The spots factually outline how health consumers, taxpayers and state and local governments will have to pay more.

Two weeks ago the No on 46 team released its first web advertisement, featuring CMA members talking about the impacts of Prop 46.  If you haven't seen that piece yet, you can now view it here .

Lastly, the campaign has launched a new website today, still at www.NoOn46.com.
