Yesterday SB 1215 by Senator Ed Hernandez (D), chair of the Senate Health Committee, was amended  to remove the in-office exception for advanced imaging and radiation oncology  from the California self referral law. The bill would also remove anatomic pathology and physical therapy from the in-office exemption. He has included this with a package of bills that would address cost containment in health care delivery.

Since the original provisions of SB 1215 have been removed it will now return to the Senate Rules Committee for committee assignment. It will likely be referred to the Senate Business and Professions Committee and heard later in April.
