SGR Fix has Important Pieces for Radiology --

Reach Out Now

ACR has requested that radiologists reach out to the House and Senate members to ask for support. They sent this to all of you earlier in the week:

The legislative effort to repeal and replace the flawed Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula has reached a critical juncture.  Congress has introduced historic bipartisan, bicameral legislation, specifically H.R. 4015/S. 2000, the SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014, to eliminate this antiquated formula which annually threatens all physicians with draconian cuts in Medicare reimbursement. Passage of this legislation represents a rare opportunity for physicians to change this policy.

In addition to repealing the SGR, H.R. 2810/S.2000 includes important provisions that will:

  • Provide a .5% annual increase to all physicians through 2018
  • Mandate the consultation by ordering physicians of appropriate use criteria developed by national medical specialty societies
  • Require CMS to disclose data related to its imposition of a 2012 25% mulitiple procedure payment reduction (MPPR) to the professional component of imaging services.

It goes without saying how crucial this legislation is to patients and physicians but we need your support and your voice in order to keep the legislative process moving forward. Therefore, we ask that you send letters in support of the legislation. You can send a letter to your Member of Congress by using the link below:

CRS 2014 Annual Meeting -- Help Us Finalize the Topics

The CRS Annual Meeting will be held this year on September 6-7, 2014 in San Francisco. We will again be partnering with the ACR Radiology Leadership Institute for much of the content. The planning is almost completed but we would like members to answer this one question survey on which topics you would like to see included. Please pick your favorite from this list of five and help us provide relevant content. Thanks for your help. Click here to take survey.

Apply for ACR Fellowship

We encourage members who are eligible to apply for ACR fellowship to submit an application for consideration. The process is now conducted through a portal on the ACR website that allows the applicant to submit the application, cv, and letters of support electronically through that portal. The CRS is notified once the application is complete and then we review the application for endorsement.  For information on the categories for the award of Fellowship and how to submit electronically go to www.acr.org, click membership icon, and the choose Awards and Honors. The fellowship application has to be complete, considered by the state chapter, and endorsed by the chapter to ACR prior to June 30, 2013.  We encourage you to begin that process and be completed prior to June 1st so that we have time for our review. You can contact JP Baird at the ACR for any fellowship questions. He is at jpbaird@acr.org .
