Employee of the Quarter

Peter Green:

Peter is a lifelong "Friend of The Event Team" and although he runs his own successful restaurant (Company Pub and Kitchen), he always has time to work for our clients. Always the professional, Peter can charm even the most difficult client with his lovely British accent. As a former Operations Manager, Peter understands that our staff often represent the first impression of an event; he goes out of his way to ensure everyone is having a good time and that the client's needs are met. He's particularly skilled as an "Official in Charge" for many of our teambuilding events. No matter the task at hand, Peter always obliges with a smile and a quick-witted joke!

Vendor of the Quarter
Rodney Reyes - Illusionist

The Event Team discovered Rodney last year during a community event that our VP of Operations was attending. Mesmerized my his talent and amazing illusions, contact information was quickly traded and Rodney has been one of our top entertainers. This quarter, Rodney has been a fixture at many of our client's events. His clever personality, tricks, illusions, and professionalism add that extra piece of entertaining flair to our events. Recently, a client needed entertainment at the last minute, and Rodney was happy to work it into his schedule and meet the client's budget at the same time. Rodney is a valued partner to The Event Team and we look forward to more fun in 2015. Contact us if you want your next corporate event to be a little more magical!

Hotelier of the Quarter
Jennifer Gale, National Sales Manager at The Lodge at Torrey Pines
Jennifer is a staple of San Diego's hospitality industry. She's worked with our Director of Sales Romy Linde for many years, most recently partnering with The Event Team to win an excellent piece of business for an exciting, kid-friendly program to take place next year. If you'd like to find out more on incorporating activities for children into your event, email Romy for the scoop!

New Additions...
Because our industry moves at such a quick pace, our team members usually receive a "trial by fire" training. Our newest additions can testify to this! Monica Paniagua (Sales Assistant to the SD team) and Marcie Booth (Operations Manager in LA) were recently brought on board to accommodate growing business in both destinations, and they have hit the ground running!

Monica, a California native, approaches any project, however challenging with a positive attitude and eagerness to succeed. She has been a great help to Romy and the rest of the sales team by reaching out to vendors and putting together proposals for clients with tight deadlines.

Marcie brings 8 years of event planning experience to her new position, and it shows in the way she dove right in to execute a demanding schedule of events in the LA area.

We're so thrilled to welcome both Monica and Marcie to The Event Team family! Find out more about them, along with the rest of the team here!

Holidazed...

Really? It's the end of the year already? Where did this year go?

We have been so busy putting out ideas to new clients, taking care of old clients, building up our offices and trying to keep our head above water that we just looked up and the year is almost over. I think our worst casualty was our Holiday Party. The only day we were all available was December 25th and I didn't think that date would draw our normal crowd.  So look for our party to be twice as big next year.

Happy Holidays, everyone!  I hope we all realize how fortunate we are and we appreciate each and every day to its fullest.

SoCal Happenings...

Check out some destination highlights!

San Diego:
Pick Your Palette This quarter we saw a decor trend with San Diego clients who wanted to move away from traditional "themes" and toward simple, elegant color palettes to match the venue and season. Here's a look at some fall decor we provided for our friends at Paradise Point Resort:

The Event Team offers an array of conceptual style sheets based on theme or color - contact us for more ideas!

Orange County:
Double the Fun Rachel and Jenn just wrapped up a double program for an international client out of Disney's Grand Californian hotel in Anaheim. Casual dinners were hosted at Downtown Disney favs Catal and Jazz Kitchen, and activities included an Angels game and a shopping excursion to the Outlets at Orange. While there are plenty of dining and tour selections in Orange County, the destination's close proximity to Los Angeles makes it easy to experience the flavor of both regions. Our guests also enjoyed the "hollywood" nightlife at the Huntley Hotel's Penthouse in Santa Monica and the Mondrian's Herringbone/Sky Bar in West Hollywood. Operations Manager Jenn Dotson was pleased with the program, "I think this program was able to showcase to our Australian friends what California has to offer in terms of exciting events." Interested in planning your next group event in Orange County? Contact Sales Manager Rachel, she'll hook you up!

Los Angeles
:

Nightmare Event Every event planner wants to avoid nightmare events...with the exception of this one! Geraldine and Marcie recently provided decor and specialty entertainment for our client Rocket Fuel's Nightmare Be"fuel" Christmas holiday event at the wickedly awesome Houdini Estate in the Hollywood Hills. Says Operations Manager Marcie: "Guests were treated to specialty cocktails designed around the element of Liquid Nitrogen, unique black and white themed décor with spooky holiday details, and exciting illusions from the infamous illusionist, Rodney Reyes. This event had all the elements to keep the guests surprised while feeling the holiday spirit." For more info on themed events and venue selections in LA, email Los Angeles GM Geraldine
