Employee of the Quarter

Dan McCollum:

Dan has been a long-time staff with The Event Team and is a useful resource for our Operations Managers too. His knowledge of LA and the surrounding areas is impressive, and his ability to move groups of people through LAX with ease is amazing.  Dan has a friendly, welcoming demeanor that always puts our clients and guests at ease during events.  Dan also adds something extra special to our events at the California Science Center's "Endeavour" exhibit - in his past life he really was a "rocket scientist" and helped work on the space shuttle for NASA.

Vendor of the Quarter
Raphael's Event Works
Dani Evangelista and Esther Lopez are the dynamic duo behind the new division of Raphael's Party Rentals.  They have been friends and partners of The Event Team for many years and always go the extra mile for TET and our clients. Even when an order is delivered as ordered, if the client requests some tweaking or "fluffing," Dani and Esther are always happy to make last-minute improvements to ensure all parties are happy with the end result. Their partnership on site inspections and FAM's is invaluable and they make TET shine amongst the competition.

Hotelier of the Quarter
Natalie Vinje, L'Auberge

The Event Team recently selected Natalie Vinje, Catering and Conference Services Manager at LAuberge Del Mar as our Hotelier of the 3rd Quarter. The recipient of this award is a hotel partner who shows outstanding effort, extraordinary teamwork, and exemplary attitude in partnering with The Event Team and the city of San Diego for our valued visitors.

Romy Linde, our Director of Sales, works directly with Natalie on business at the LAuberge. She said, "Natalie as been a pleasure to work with. She is quick and efficient, and I look forward to assisting with more events in the future!"

We caught up with Natalie and learned a little bit more about her life the hotel and at home. Click here to visit our blog and read the interview.

New Additions...
The Event Team is excited to welcome two new members to its Los Angeles office: Geraldine Caedo, General Manager and Carly Cylinder, Sales Manager.

Caedo, a 21 year Los Angeles resident, has worked in the hospitality industry for nearly a decade has an over-the-road Tour Director as well as field staff for several DMCs (including The Event Team) in L.A. and other cities. "I have a genuine affinity for leadership and management," said Caedo. "I believe very much in both empowering and challenging staff. I know and love Los Angeles and am excited to create out-of-the box experiences with our fresh and hungry team."

A 12 year L.A. resident, Cylinder also brings much to the table in terms of destination knowledge, event experience and creativity, working as Creative Director of the bicoastal floral design studio Flour LA, Inc. Cylinder said, "I like the family feel of our boutique agency...I like that my thoughts and opinions are valued and heard."

Matt Robbins, The Event Team's founder/CEO said, "Geraldine and Carly have already hit the ground running, and we couldn't be more confident in our team now that they've joined us. We look forward to continued growth and success in our Los Angeles office."

Fall Throttle...

As we say goodbye to summer (kind of) and hello to fall (sort of), The Event Team is enjoying a nice mix of requests for business in all our destinations. Our biggest news of the quarter has to be the addition of Geraldine and Carly to our Los Angeles office (read more on that below). Sometimes the beginning of fall feels more like a new year than January 1st does, and the new energy on our team reflects that seasonal shift in a great way. We're excited to pull out our scarves (okay, scarf), switch up our iced coffees to warm lattes, and see what the fall has in store!

SoCal Happenings...

We've been operating some pretty cool programs all over Southern California this summer, if we do say so ourselves! Check out some highlights:

San Diego:
ALHI Opening Reception at Hotel Del Coronado. On September 11th, The Event Team partnered with Hotel Del Coronado to provide an opening reception party on the Windsor Lawn for ALHI attendees. The patriotic event honored our nation's military and first responders on one of the most memorable days in American history. Highlights included a presentation of colors, a live performance of the National Anthem, a youth drumline, skydiving former Navy SEALS, and more.
Bill Yahres, VP of Sales & Marketing, spearheaded the event. He said, "While we paid tribute to the first responders and fallen heroes, we also created an atmosphere of hope and excitement. The Event Team was extremely honored to produce an event so unique and special." Thanks to amazing teamwork and fantastic vendor partnerships, the event was a major success. For more photos from this event, click here! Email Bill to see how you can create an event like this!

Orange County:
Tours Galore!
Our Orange County guru Rachel Horgan just finished up a lovely program full of fun-filled tours with the help of VP of Operations Paige Weeber. Our attendees played bocce ball at Pelican Hill Resort, kayaked in Laguna, flew over Newport via helicopter, sailed in Dana Point, and participated in simulated target practice at Artemis Institute in Lake Forest.

Rachel was very pleased with the program: "Running four simultaneous activities is no easy task, but our Operations team handled it perfectly. I attended the gun defense training class and watched as the group laughed together (especially when someone was "zapped" to simulate being injured), but also saw them learn a lot about how police are trained and what key details to notice when going into a hostile situation. Orange County has so many unique tour options and I love showing our clients what's new!" To find out more about these and other Orange County activities, contact Rachel today!

Los Angeles
:

Light It Up! This July, The Event Team was tasked to light up the night on top of The Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, supplying our client with custom branded glow cubes, tables, towers, as well as creating VIP lounges awash in client sponsor colors. With a skyline backdrop, the guests were greeted with a buffet of color blanketing the entire rooftop.

Operations Manager Dan Bolen organized and executed this event, and reflected that "it
was great success and we enjoyed providing a unique display, while exceeding the client's expectations visually." Contact Dan to learn more about how to light up your next event!
