Employee of the Quarter
Melanie Payne:
We have been staffing Melanie regularly for the past year, and in that time she has become a great asset to our team. Melanie is a true professional and can keep her cool even in the most chaotic situations. She recently was part of an event that involved transporting 800 guests from point A to point B in a 60 minute window. When a few curve balls were thrown her way, she kept her cool and sharpened her focus on accomplishing a successful transfer. The Operations team has come to realize that when Melanie is part of the team, she will always put the client first and make sure they are happy. We love having Melanie an part of The Event Team and look forward to getting to know her better!

Vendor of the Quarter
GCS Photography:
Greg Schenewerk is the owner and principle photographer for GCS Photography. Greg has been a friend of The Event Team for many years and is great partner on events. Recently, Greg has proven to be a miracle worker! When a client forgot their backdrop for a reception Greg made one appear quickly and with a smile. When other clients experience budget issues, Greg happily offers to work with them and find a photography solution that works economically. We love working with Greg and his team of photographers, and we are proud of the fact that our partnership has helped create lifelong memories for our clients.

New Philanthropic Teambuilding Event
Progressive Backpack Build:
Our typical teambuilding activities are team-focused events where guests spend the majority of time managing their project in one station. This philanthropic activity, however, is perfect If you would like to incorporate CSR and teambuilding into a casual reception-style event without disrupting the mixing and mingling of all guests. As guests enter the event, they are divided into groups of three and provided with a backpack and instructions. Through the course of the event, teams must visit 7 different stations and answer trivia in order to receive supplies to fill their backpacks. Correct trivia answers earn guests additional points which can be traded in for supplies at a card-making station. At the end of the event, guests turn in their backpacks and cards, and The Event Team donates them to a local charity in the name of your company. Depending on availability, we can also have a representative on-site to accept the donation on the charity's behalf. The Event Team recently completed 3 waves of this event for a San Diego client; the end result was 265 backpacks full of supplies donated to charity!

A New Season...
It's spring already! Wasn't it just the beginning of the year a few days ago? Spring is a time of growth and our next quarter is shaping up to be the busiest part of our year.
Take the growth of our Los Angeles office, for example. This year it will handle more than half of our business, and we added a new employee (Dan Bolen) to accommodate this growth. We also expanded our Team Building division and added a lot of new events to our arsenal, including more Philanthropic options. Our relationship with our hotel partners is also growing steadily; we were recently added as preferred vendors by two major hotels in Southern California and look forward to helping their clients experience our super people and superior events!
Outside the office, we are enjoying spectacular warm weather (as if it ever really gets cold in Southern Cal). March Madness is coming to an end, giving way to the start of baseball season (Go Padres, Angels and Dodgers!). We are all working hard to lose the weigh we gained over the holidays and gearing up toward a beautiful spring and summer! We hope you can find the time in your busy schedules to go outside and play!

A New Baby...
We were excited to learn late last year that our Senior Sales Manager Romy and her hubby Gavin Linde are expecting their first child! Romy still zips around the office faster than a speeding bullet; the only difference now is that she's zipping around with a baby Linde bump! She is due to give birth in June, and we couldn't be more excited for her and her growing family. Can't wait to have our newest junior addition to The Event Team. If you'd like to send your well wishes, feel free to email rlinde@eventteam.com. Congrats, Linde Family!

A New Teammate...
The Event Team is excited to announce the latest addition to the Los Angeles office: Dan Bolen. Dan came to LA a little over a year ago by way of Richmond, Virgina and brings with him a degree in Communication Studies and Event Management from James Madison University. He has extensive experience running festivals, fundraisers, concerts and other events, and we're excited to watch him put his skills to use with The Event Team. Dan will be assisting General Manager Danny Fisk in both Sales and Operations roles, so he will know the company inside and out in no time! Given his enthusiastic attitude and outgoing personality, we can already tell Dan will be a great fit with the rest of the team. "I'm enjoying every day, learning everything I can, and appreciating the opportunity," he says. Welcome aboard, Dan!

A New Twist on Old Hollywood...
The Hollywood theme party. It's inescapable in our region. We love classic Hollywood decor (Marilyn Monroe backdrops, Oscar statues, film reel centerpieces) at theme parties, but we know that it can get a little tired for clients that have been there, done that.
That is why, with the help of our wonderful decor partners at Studio AD, our creative team offers several alternatives to standard Hollywood event decor. Taking inspiration from the culture and trends of various iconic neighborhoods in the city, these options deliver the feel of the LA/Hollywood lifestyle in a whole new way.
Examples: Venice Beach: Venice is known for its artsy laid-back vibe. Here we blend Venice Beach earthiness with a casual yet sophisticated L.A. business lifestyle.
Rodeo Drive: Home of the world's most exclusive shopping, Rodeo Drive is THE place to see and be seen. High end boutique's and renowned jewelers line the street, none more popular than Tiffany's and their signature turquoise color scheme. Hollywood Hills: Designer houses with cutting edge interior design are seen throughout the Hollywood Hills. Often gracing the pages of Architectural Digest, these homes to the elite offer perfect views of the City of Angels and provide perfect inspiration for lavish event decor.
Contact the sales team to discover even more fresh and creative ways to approach your next Hollywood-themed event!
