Employee of the Quarter
Corky Lang:
Although Corky is new to TET, his years in the industry have allowed him to quikcly rise to the top. Corky is always one step ahead of the client (and sometimes Ops manager) and knows what needs to get done and how to make it happen. When Corky is given an assignment, he constantly proves his reliability and ability to think on his feet. We love having Corky as a part of The Event Team and look forward to working together more in 2013!

Vendor of the Quarter
PEP Creative:
Dani and Esther are always very responsive to our requests and needs. They go above and beyond for site inspections, and they are very creative at maximizing the budget so the client gets added value at a great rate! Their onsite team is always professional, quick and accommodating to last minute changes. They are a pleasure to work with all year long!

New San Diego Venue
Blind Burro:
Our valued partners at Good Time Design are at it again with their latest downtown San Diego restaurant.
The Blind Burro, located in the old Fleetwood building in San Diego's East Village, specializes in baja coastal cuisine using local and sustainable seafood and produce when possible. Think grilled fish, chicken and shrimp, with a Mexican and Baja inspired twist. The Blind Burro showcases a second-to-none tequila, mezcal and spirits program that will enhance the restaurant's Baja Costal vibe. With a walk up outdoor bar, guests will be able to eat and drink, while enjoying the always amazing San Diego weather. Come late night, the restaurant will convert into a fun and unique lounge!

New VIP LA Activity!
A Day in the Life:
Our Teambuilding department is at it again! We recently revisited our Los Angeles Teambuilding Rally to give it a VIP twist. LA is all about the face-lift, so we figured we'd give this favorite teambuilding program a little cosmetic treatment too! Check out our new and improved "Celebrity for a Day VIP Limo Rally":
The morning starts with a wakeup call and a black box delivered to each guest's room. Inside each box is a pair of sunglasses, hat/scarf, and a set of instructions with a meeting time and location. As guests arrive at the designated meeting location, they are greeted by a "security guard" who whisks them through a line of paparazzi to a private "press conference." Here, the group will be divided into teams of 3-4 and debriefed on the day's schedule of events by a "Press Secretary" and "Agent." Teams are then escorted outside through the shouts and flashes of the paparazzi, where limos are waiting to help them escape. Each team will travel with their own security guard, and will find a Swag Bag waiting in their vehicle that contains maps, pens, supplies, and further instructions. Teams must follow a route to 4 designated stops. At each checkpoint, teams will be greeted by a celebrity look-a-like who will present a challenge for that checkpoint, then direct teams to their next obligation. (A celebrity's day is never done!). Checkpoints may include: -A "casting call" at the Hollywood Walk of Fame & Mann's Chinese Theatre with a Steven Spielberg lookalike. -A glamour shot at the iconic Hollywood Sign with a Marilyn Monroe lookalike. -Sunset Strip Rock Star Trivia at the Whisky A Go Go with a Johnny Depp lookalike. -Rodeo Drive challenge at Tiffany's in Beverly Hills with an Audrie Hepburn lookalike. After every team has fulfilled their celebrity duties for the day, guests will reconvene back at the hotel for a relaxing happy hour and awards ceremony. (Little does each team know, their security guard was secretly scoring their performance at each checkpoint!) Oscar Statues will be awarded to the team with the highest score - guests should make sure to have an acceptance speech prepared! Call us today to set up your next VIP teambuilding event! 888-EVENT-88 |

Warm Wishes!
Happy New Year! 2012 was a lot of hard work and a lot of fun! We continued on from our biggest sales year ever in 2011 to top it in 2012. (Go for 3 in a row?) We celebrated by having our biggest Holiday party yet with close to 200 employees, friends, vendors and clients gathered together for a good time. And for our company retreat, we spent 3 fun nights at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. Significant others joined us for dining, drinking (just a little), and more! We also added 4 new employees this year (the most ever in a year), and we are thrilled to have Jessica, Jennifer, Rachel and Danny on our Team! (Read more about them here!)
We are all going to gain 10 pounds a piece from the food, candy and cookies dropped off by our vendors at the office this month. We appreciate and value all of our vendor partners and we thank them for remembering us during the Holidays! On behalf of all of us at The Event Team, we wish each and every one of you a Joyous Holiday and a Wonderful and Happy New Year!

TET Honors Hoteliers, Staff & Vendors at Holiday Party
Earlier this month, The Event Team hosted its annual Holiday Party at Bootlegger in downtown San Diego! As always, military representatives were on-hand to collect new unwrapped gifts on behalf of Toys for Tots. Our holiday party is a great opportunity for The Event Team to thank our valued partners in the industry, including part-time event staff, trusted vendors, and wonderful hotel partners. Special highlights of the night included our Employee and Vendor of the Quarter recognition (they went home with beautiful terrariums and hanging succulent frames from the good folks at Sideyard Succulents). Our Hotelier of the 4th Quarter award was presented to Sandra Torenburg from Hard Rock Hotel. Lastly, Julieta Arroyo of Paradise Point Resort was the lucky winner of our 4th Quarter Lead Drive, taking home a $250 Tiffany's gift card. We are so thankful to all of those who came out and celebrated the holiday season with us. Thanks for helping make our 20th year a great success!

What Happens In Vegas...
Everyone here in the office agrees: The Event Team's 2012 Winter Retreat was one of our best company retreats yet! Our fearless lead Matt Robbins rewarded the team with an amazing trip to Las Vegas that included everything from R&R at the spa, to exciting entertainment from Cirque du Soleil's Ka, to team-bonding activities on the Strip, to educational outings at the Hoover Dam, and more! We even got to visit our Hosts Global Alliance partners at their Vegas office!
We speak for the entire office when we say thank you so much to Matt who shows his team gratitude year after year with these awesome experiences. It really helps us get to know each other and puts wind in our sails for a new year of hard work and superior events!

San Diego Block Party Experts
When it comes to block parties in San Diego, The Event Team has been around the block (cheesy pun intended). Whether you're looking for a large-scale outdoor event adjacent to the bay, or an urban adventure that "takes it to the streets," San Diego's Embarcadero and Gaslamp Quarter are perfect block party backdrops.
Our sales and operations teams are skilled in executing these events and tying together all the moving parts. Working with a multitude of vendors (city permitting, portable restrooms, restaurants and caterers, entertainment, staging, security, etc.) can be a huge challenge, but with The Event Team, we are the only point of contact you need to reach all the necessary suppliers!
Our creative team of experts also makes sure to provide a unique new spin on any new block party we operate. Whether it's offering a new food or decor theme, or the latest and greatest entertainment, we want YOUR block party to be a reflection of your company and your guests!
Check out a video from our latest block party! If you like what you see, contact us at sales@eventteam.com to start planning your next great San Diego experience!
