COMMUNICATION:
We strive for clear, current and consistent communication with parents. There are FOUR main ways to find out about announcements and upcoming events. We strongly advise you to sign up for all of them:

FACEBOOK - We have a private Facebook group titled: Spalding Drive Charter PTA. If you haven't already, please find us on Facebook and ask to join the private group!

TIGER CONNECTION -  We have streamlined Tiger Connection and the formerly published Tiger Talk into one weekly  Tiger Connection eblast (which you're reading right now!). It will be published this year on FRIDAYS. If you are not receiving it, please send your email address and preferred phone number here: [email protected].

ROOM PARENTS -  Once room parents are established for each class, they will begin sending home some paper reminders and mostly email communication about your child's class and school happenings. Please make sure you provide your email address to your teacher's room parent in order to receive these important messages.

SCHOOL MESSENGER - From time to time, SDC administration will send an official school email and/or phone call with special announcements or updates on weather events. PLEASE make all the parents or guardians in your family have provided us with your preferred email address so that you receive updates from Spalding Drive Charter. We want to keep you informed!

YOUR PTA

Tiger Connection is published by the PTA in conjunction with the SDC administration.  We hope you find it useful and it helps you stay connected with what is going on at our wonderful school. If you have information you would like to include in an upcoming issue, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Lott

VP of Communications,
SDC PTA

A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Good evening, Tiger parents!

Wow!  What an amazing year this has been! I truly feel blessed to have been chosen to be the leader at Spalding Drive Elementary!  So much has happened this year, and most of it was because of dedicated parents, passionate staff members, and amazing students...I just have the pleasure of being around to witness and enjoy all of the positive things which have happened here.

From the start of school with the Back to School Picnic to the 5th grade dance and everything in between, it has been a fantastic year of "firsts" for me....first Fall Festival, first Fun Run, first holiday sing-along, first student play, first Foundation meeting, first reading a story at the toy store, and so many more.

I'm looking forward to many more opportunities to do those events and others as well.  There is so much to say, but knowing you're ready to move on to summer thoughts, I will just say thank you...thank you for entrusting me with your most precious children.  It has been an honor and a privilege this year to serve you and your child.

Please enjoy the summer - don't forget to take some time to read - and we'll see you on August 6 from 12:30 - 3:00 for Sneak Peek!!

Warmly,
Lynn Johnson, Principal

I-READY FOR SUMMER!

Keep Your Students' Skills Sharp This Summer!

Do you run out of activities to do with your children during those hot, hot Georgia summers?  Tired of the pool and baseball field?  Well, enjoy the cool comfort of your home and help your child stay focused and engaged in learning by allowing them to access their i-Ready lessons!  All students currently in K - 5 can continue to use i-Ready at home with their current password.  If you child forgets it, please email me, and I will look it up! If, for some reason, you get a message about "no more lessons", feel free to email me ([email protected]) and I will assign more! i-Ready is an adaptive program that teaches first, then guided practice, then it allows individual practice in reading and math domains.  All lessons are based on the Georgia Common Core Standards and match instruction in the classroom! Keep this message handy and access i-Ready at https://login.i-ready.com.

Kids Take the Stage! Theater production camp

GRADES K-2:

No one is too young to experience the fun of theater. Children will learn the basics of stage movement and terminology through a series of fun games and activities. The theme for this summer's theater camps will be the works of famed children's story writer, Roald Dahl. This is an excellent introduction to drama, and each child will have the opportunity to perform one of Roald Dahl's short stories for family and friends at the end of the camp week. Children need to bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks each day. Costuming will be simple--things students already have in their closets.
