David Boyles, Carolina Furniture Mart to Serve as 2014 Chair of the Board |
David Boyles, Carolina Furniture Mart, will serve as the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce's Chair of the Board in 2014. Currently, Mr. Boyles is the Chamber's 2013 Chair-Elect, serves as Vice-Chair of Public Affairs and Education and is a member of the Chamber Friday morning Leads Group. His term as Chair will begin in January of 2014.
Mr. Boyles is married to Tina Boyles and has three children, Wood Boyles, who is attending Lenoir-Rhyne University, Hannah Boyles and Walker Boyles. Both Hannah and Walker attend West Lincoln High School. The Boyles family lives in West Lincoln and are members of Hulls Grove Baptist Church.
Chamber President, Ken Kindley, stated, "David's leadership skills as a businessman and seasoned Board member will be a definite asset to the Chamber." Mr. Boyles has also been involved in civic activities as well. He is a member of the Mountain Highlanders Bagpipe Band and is a past Board member of the Coalition Against Child Abuse. |
NEWLY NOMINATED BOARD MEMBERS TO SERVE IN 2014
The Chamber's Nominating Committee, chaired by David Boyles, Carolina Furniture Mart, has nominated the following people to serve as new board members and Chair-Elect beginning in 2014:
Chris Rhyne - Rhyne Financial, 2014 Chair-Elect
Klay Shrum - Katie Wood - Company Clothes.com, Vice-Chair, Community Development & Promotions
Tracy Barger - Bank of the Ozarks
According to the Chamber's By-Laws, additional names of candidates for Board of Directors can be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signature of at least 10% of the membership of the Chamber. Such petitions shall be filed with the nominating committee within 15 days after notice has been given of the names of those nominated. The determination of the nominating committee as to the legality of the petition (s) shall be final. If no petition is filed within the designated period, the nominations shall be closed and the nominated slate of candidates shall be declared elected by the Board of Directors at their next regular board meeting. |
Chamber Hosts National Health Care Panel Discussion |
The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce hosted a National Health Care Panel discussion on September 10, 2013 at the Lincoln Cultural Center.
Pictured are panelists that participated and emcee Brad Rivers, Past Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors and Small Business Council member.
Panelists included Jason Cogdill, Attorney from Winston-Salem, Melisa Harrison, 1st Advantage Insurance Group, current Chamber Chair of the Board of Directors, and Greg Clarke, Benefit Controls Companies. Approximately 40 people attended the forum to ask questions concerning the Affordable Health Care Act and what will be required of both individuals and businesses in the future. |
Chamber Conducts Grand Opening for
Glitz and Glamour Studio |

On hand to assist with the opening event was 2013 Chair of the Board, Melisa Harrison and Chamber Ambassadors' Committee Chair, Eddie Sigmon.
