From The President's Desk |
I wanted to give you another update on the draft, long-range transportation plan currently underway for the City of Lincolnton and the surrounding area. Public hearings regarding the proposed transportation plan are scheduled for next week. The Lincoln County Commissioners are scheduled to hold their hearing on January 7 at 6:30 pm at the Citizens Center and the Lincolnton City Council will hold their hearing on January 10 at 7 pm at City Hall. One of the preliminary recommendations contained in the draft plan is designation of several key roads in the City and surrounding area as "boulevards". This boulevard designation could potentially result - at some point in the future - in the installation by NCDOT of a median on those roads in order to limit left turn movements to intersections and locations with a median break. The roads recommended to be designated as boulevards in the draft plan are: - East Main Street between Generals Boulevard and NC 150
- Generals Boulevard/Maiden Highway between South Aspen Street and Springs East Road
- NC 27 West from Grove Street to Rock Dam Road
If you have concerns about this draft recommendation or if you are interested in obtaining additional information about this or any of the draft long range transportation plan recommendations, you can contact Laura Simmons at 704-736-8930. Please call me if you have any questions. Thanks, Ken |
