Summer is here!
We hope that everyone enjoyed the Memorial Day holiday and are preparing for all the summer festivities and travel plans that summer provides. We welcome you to join us at service this week and are so happy that Reverend Roger Verse will be at our pulpit with a sermon entitled, "Who was your Philip?" This week's scripture comes from Acts 8:26-39 and begs us to consider how patient are we when things that we don't fully understand are happening around us or if we are not getting the responses we are looking for.
When we are seeking answers, the Bible is a wonderful tool. However, sometimes it takes patience and quiet reflection to learn what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell us. Since we are, in essence, all disciples of Jesus, we should ask ourselves if we could show the same restraint as the scholar did in Acts when Philip interrupted the man while he was speaking. Philip, in an effort to better understand what was being said, was fortunate that the scholar showed patience, courteousness and a great humanity by asking Philip to sit with him in an effort to help Philip quench his thirst for knowledge.
If we can glean just one thing from this week's lesson and apply it to the week ahead, it would be to extend grace and the gift of patient understanding to those who are seeking to know God better and to be all that God has called us to be.
Make it a great week! Blessing to all...
