Did you know?

Making history at Wimbledon

Well we all know that 2013 has now seen the first British men's singles champion for 77 years, but here are some other history making events from previous years at Wimbledon

In 1981 Chris Evert Lloyd was the last married woman to win the women's singles championship

In 1985 Boris Becker made history on 3 counts - he was the youngest male singles champion (17 years and 227 days old), the first German champion and the first unseeded champion

In 2010 Taylor Dent served the fastest serve at a staggering 148 mph

Greetings!

We are very pleased to announce that ley hill solutions is now registered with
Achilles Link-up as a supplier of consultancy services to the rail industry. Clients in this sector have become an increasingly significant part of our client portfolio over the last few years and we are continually enhancing our expertise in this area.

We are, however, still maintaining and building our skills and experience in several core areas, as a look at our
Solutions Toolkit will tell you. See below for more information about some of these.

Our Toolkit - Enhancing Performance

The need to enhance your performance is a never ending requirement. because the environments and market places in which you operate (and hence the expectations of your customers and clients) are constantly changing. Those organisations who continue to perform at optimum levels do so because they are one step ahead of the game.

There are various ways of ensuring you are that one step ahead. Many organisations have adopted and reaped the benefits of a culture of continuous improvement. This is a culture, led from the top by the most senior management level, in which all employees are empowered to identify and implement ways of improving their outputs.

Others continually monitor performance through a balanced scorecard. The term balanced scorecard comes from the fact that successful organisations require a planning and performance system that provides a balanced perspective i.e. one that considers its mission, vision and goals from a number of angles or perspectives which are designed to represent the external and internal pressures the organisation faces.

These approaches are not mutually exclusive and can be used in tandem with each other and with other methods of identifying improvement opportunities, such as self-assessment against a recognised framework of excellence (see our article from last month's newsletter about excellence and assessment frameworks).

Always key to enhancing performance is a thorough understanding of the issues - current and future - important to your clients or customers and also to your employees. Sound methodologies need to be in place in order to gain this understanding. You need to be absolutely sure you are asking the right questions and getting honest answers.

However, enhancing performance is a lot easier said than done and requires a degree of focus that can be difficult to achieve within the day to day demands of running an oganisation. At ley hill solutions we are very experienced at helping people identify and focus on the key things that will make the most impact and reap the most benefit. Do contact us if you'd like to know any more.

Sincerely,
