What's happening at WORD?

A young Flash, keeping the bookstore safe for civilians, at our Superheroes event with Dennis Shealy.
We've made it through the February doldrums -- is it just us, or is there some spring in the air? Maybe it's just us, or maybe it's the battle brewing between camps Bowtie and Fuzzy Hat, inspired by two of Melville House's new releases: The Polyglots and A Country Doctor's Notebook! Our staff have already weighed in here and here, but we want to hear from you. Come by the store to pose or send in a picture with your vote, and at the end of the month we'll have a special prize for one lucky person from each camp.
We've got a full month of events for you, covering topics from the circus to poetry to Prince and beyond. All details are below, and on our website. See you in the store!

For your inner child and your grown-up self, we present Circus Now! The evening will include everything from juggling and clowns to the history of the NYC circus scene, courtesy of Wall and friends from City Park Family Programming, Ars Nova, and Fly by Night. While tickets will be available at the door, we encourage you to get yours ahead of time!
