Questions & Answers

How do I support WORD with Kobo?
When you create a new Kobo account through this link (or through any ebook on our website), you will support WORD with each digital purchase you make, whether it's through our website, through the Kobo app, or through the ereader you purchase from us.

So I don't have to have an ereader to support you?

Nope! You can read the ebooks through your smartphone, on your tablet or iPad or what have you, using the Kobo app. The important part is that you create your account through us.

How good are these ereaders anyway?

Our staff has been testing them, and Jenn wrote a review of her experience with the Glo. So far, the verdict is that most of us like the Glo. The Mini is super cute as well, but just doesn't have the built-in reading light.

Does Kobo have any good ebooks?
The Kobo library contains over 3 million books and magazines. By comparison, the Amazon Kindle store boasts "over 1 million books, magazines, newspapers, and blogs." Well, isn't that special?

How do I get books?
You will be able to search for titles on our website, and when you decide to buy an ebook, you will be directed to a WORD-branded Kobo page to complete your purchase. You can browse more in the Kobo library, and we will get a commission for all titles you buy. We'd love it if you didn't have to leave our site, but for now at least, this is how it will work.

I already have a Kobo account! Can I link it to you?

Not yet, but soon! Please get in touch with us directly at info@wordbrooklyn.com and we'll update you when we know more.

But what about my Google ebooks?

First of all, thank you! We are extremely grateful for your early support in this digital Wild West. You will still have access to all of your Google ebooks through your Google account, and you'll be able to view them through the "My eBooks" tab on our website.

However, Google eBooks that you purchase henceforth will have no connection to WORD. Google decided to discontinue the program that allowed indie booksellers to sell Google eBooks, effective in January 2013. The Kobo solution is an answer to that decision -- we wanted to be sure that something was in place before the other program ended, and we must commend the American Booksellers Association for making that happen.

If I buy a Kobo ereader, can I transfer my Google ebooks onto that?

You can! Google has pretty thorough instructions for transferring them, and if you run into any troubles our staff will be happy to talk you through it.

Will I finally be able to give ebooks as gifts?

Yes! And you can also send an eGiftcard. We're still learning the nuts and bolts on how this works, but if you direct your recipient to access their gift through WORD's website, then we will get credit for any books they purchase. If you want to be a guinea pig and help us figure out how it works, get in touch!

Need some recommendations? Happy to oblige. Want to know even more about the Kobo deal? Here you go!
