Dear People of St. David's,

 

I pray that you are well and want to welcome you to a new year of mission, ministry and life in Christ at St. David's and in the world!

A new year is upon us at St. David's Church. This is a year that promises all of us opportunities to grow in our life with God and with one another. It is a year of paying attention to the hope and the reality that Christ is calling us as individuals and as a community. Christ is calling us to a deeper life in God through Him and to a pattern of living that reflects Christ's life according to our differing gifts and interests.

And so our theme for this year to help us grow in our sense of mission and life with God is "Christ is Calling." It is a theme that we hope will deepen our life with this God, who created and redeemed all that is, and yet is personally interested in your life and mine. It is a focus that we expect will help us to learn how we can hear His voice and leading in our lives through prayer and worship, through learning and ministry, and through times of fun and fellowship together.

My hope is that the focus on the promise that Christ is Calling will help us examine the lives we are leading and the gifts we have been given and turn them over to Christ's purposes and not our own. Christ is calling us to follow where He leads and this new year is an opportunity for all of us to listen and follow in His life giving ways.

This Sunday at St. David's, we will worship at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the Church and at 10 a.m. in the Chapel. Following the Chapel worship, we will have a picnic near the Church that is open to all, hosted by the Men's Fellowship. I hope you hear the call to join in this year, beginning this Sunday. I suggest that you arrive a little early so that you can park near the Church or up at the Knewstub Building to make room for the visitors God is sending to become part of our community.
