"But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ."

Ephesians 4:20

Dear People of St. David's,

I pray that you and yours are well and are as excited, as I am, for the Cornerstone Weekend Celebration of our 300th anniversary as a Christian community. This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we have an opportunity to give thanks for all that God has done at St. David's through the centuries; what God is doing for us in our own day; and with an expectant hope for God's presence and grace for future generations. It's an amazing moment in the life of God's Church for us to be here together and to witness to the goodness of God in all of our lives and the promise that presents to everyone.

You and I are living witnesses to the faith that has been passed onto us in this place. The buildings, the grounds, the traditions, and 300 years of Christian worship have helped shape who we are. One need only to walk into the church to feel the presence of the holy - God's presence and the aroma of thousands of prayers of thanksgiving and petition offered by people like us. It's a place of peace and hope that brushes the souls of all who walk through the doors.

We are living witnesses in our own day, as well. When we gather for worship or offer the gifts of our time, talent and treasure to build this community and to change the world, we are telling one another and the world that God is with us and God is for us. We are giving expression in our own day to a faith that changes hearts and will continue to change the world into God's dream for all creation.

We are the living cornerstones that future generations will build upon for their faith in Jesus Christ, too. The lives that are changed and the memories of God's grace and love that we share with others will encourage them to believe and follow in their own day because we have believed and followed. That's one of the reasons we are asking everyone to write a brief letter for the time capsule that will be buried on Sunday to be opened in May of 2115. Simply sit down with a piece of paper or at your computer and tell the future who you are, what God and St. David's means for you, and maybe a little prayer or word of support for those who will follow long after most of us have entered into glory.

I hope that you can be present with us for this marvelous moment in time in our life as a parish, but here or away, please join in giving thanks to God for St. David's Church, past, present and future.

 Grace and Peace.

Frank Allen
