Fall 2014 e-Newsletter

To start, I'd like to congratulate the Blue Ash companies that recently made the 2014 Inc. 5000 list.  With 10 of the 35 Greater Cincinnati firms on the list, our city has the most fastest growing privately held companies in the region!

I'd also like to extend my congratulations to another rapidly growing Blue Ash-based company. CTI Clinical Trial and Consulting Services recently opened an office in San Francisco and in San Paulo, Brazil earlier this year.  Offices are also in the works for Australia and two additional European locations in the next 12 to 18 months.

I'm pleased to announce that our business community has grown since our last newsletter with the addition of several new companies.   Microsoft will be relocating its sales office to 4445 Lake Forest Drive and Forward Technologies, Inc. moved from Springfield, Ohio to 6130 Interstate Circle  this summer. In addition, Neyer Properties is filling up Vista Business Center on Alliance Road with new tenants, including  The Urology Group, endevis and River Valley Physicians and recently purchased Fountain Pointe I and II, which are located at the intersection of Cornell Road and Reed Hartman Highway.

Blue Ash also added two new foreign-owned firms to its roster.  Nordic Industries Development, which specializes in market and sales channel consulting solutions, will be the first Finnish firm in Blue Ash when the company moves into its new North American headquarters at 4445 Lake Forest Drive early next year. Liftra USA, Inc. a solutions provider of special lifting and transportation tasks within the turbine industry is the first Danish firm in the Greater Cincinnati region. The company's new facility is located at 10831 Joslyn Drive and includes assembly, storage and office space for the service and maintenance of self-hoisting cranes and Liftra products.

Please join me in welcoming all of these new companies to Blue Ash. It is very exciting that our business community continues to grow and the investments that are being made by companies in Nordic countries illustrates how desirable our location is for foreign-owned firms.  Be sure to read more about a few of our new firms in the Blue Ash Business Highlights section in this newsletter.

On August 9th, we celebrated the completion of Phase I of Summit Park with an initial  unveiling at a community gathering.  The event featured the park's infrastructure, great lawn, promenade walkways, viewing pergolas, and children's playground. We're currently in the process of starting Phase 2 which includes the construction of the community center, glass canopy  and a fine dining establishment.  I think everyone will agree that Summit Park and our two new residential communities, Creekside Pointe and the Great Traditions development on Plainfield Road are making Blue Ash even more beautiful and vibrant than ever before.

Stay tuned for more!

 BLUE ASH BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS

Finland-based firm selects Blue Ash for its

North American Headquarters

Nordic Industries Development (NID), a Finland-based business development consulting firm, recently announced Blue Ash will be the headquarters of its North American operations.

NID was established in 1994 and specializes in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of international sales channels.  NID accomplishes this by working directly with sales management and providing factual information to properly estimate channel potential.  In addition, NID develops market-specific sales strategies and works with local channels to maximize sales performance and enhance control for its clients.

"Our strength is in the operational and regional knowledge of the sectors and clients we serve," explained Magalie Racaud, NID's Administrative Director. "We already have offices in Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Finland. Having a North American presence will enable us to be accessible to our clients and stakeholders who are located here and it will also help us obtain first-hand market information that would not be possible otherwise."

NID is the first Finland-based business to open an office in Blue Ash.  According to Mrs. Racaud, the company narrowed its search to Greater Cincinnati due to the region's convenient access to a large percentage of the population base and manufacturing facilities.

"After visiting Blue Ash and meeting the people, we decided it is the right place for us. Blue Ash has a great selection of facilities and its prime location will give our employees the ability to work in the heart of a very dynamic and active business community," she said.

The company will move into its new offices in January 2015 and plans to open additional offices in other states as well as Mexico and Canada to support clients in those locations.  NID currently operates in North America, Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.  NID specializes in several U.S. industry sectors, including power engineering, automation, aviation, automotive, manufacturing technologies, construction, and offshore and marine.

On November 4th, the company will host a seminar in Helsinki at the U.S. Embassy which will focus on trends and prospects in the USA for manufacturing and process automation. Featured speakers will include Neil Hensley, Economic Development Director for the City of Blue Ash, Anne Cappel, Executive Director, European American Chamber of Commerce in Cincinnati, Joe Dehner, Partner, Frost Brown Todd, Cincinnati, and Juha Seppanen, CEO of Nordic Industries North America, Blue Ash.  The seminar will also be held in several other cities in Finland.

Leader in CNC machining of metals and plastics
moves to Blue Ash

When Bradley Meyers, Brian Collins, Scott Mason, and Andrew Schultz acquired Springfield, Ohio-based Forward Technologies Inc. (FTI) in April of this year, they decided to move the company to the Greater Cincinnati region.

FTI's new facility at 6150 Interstate Circle
According to co-owner Brian Collins, the search for a Greater Cincinnati-based facility to house the operations was motivated by the fact that all of the owners live in the area.  However, as a precision manufacturer of difficult-to-produce machined components, FTI uses a significant amount of electricity. Finding an existing facility that met their electrical requirements was a challenge.

"We found the ideal facility in Blue Ash.  The building met our electrical requirements and since Blue Ash is centrally located, it's convenient to serve our local and national customers and to work with area suppliers.  It also has easy access for national shipping companies," Collins stated.

The new owners purchased the facility in May, just one month after they acquired the business. The move was completed in August.

According to Collins, all of the company's employees, except one, made the move from Springfield to work at the new Blue Ash facility.  He credits this to FTI's culture of educating and investing in its employees.
"Richard Branson summed it up best when he said 'Train people well enough so they can leave; treat them well enough so they don't want to.'  We invest in our employees because they are critical to our success," he said.

FTI was founded in 1998 and specializes in CNC machining of metals and plastics, from product manufacturing to assembly.  FTI serves companies in the aerospace, defense, environmental testing, metrological, electronic, industrial, medical, and energy industries, and was awarded ISO 2001 Certification in April.

Neyer Properties recently acquired another Blue Ash commercial property, Fountain Pointe I and II.  The buildings have more than 177,000 square feet, and according to the company's website, it plans to renovate the lobby, common corridors and restrooms and will update the landscaping.
