God is Good - - All the Time!
|
Greetings in the name of our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
It's a chant we have used at camps and various events to get the kids' attention -- "God is good!" and they all echo, "All the time!" And we say back, "All the time!" and they echo back, "God is good!"
It is the truth! He is good ALL the time. Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:5) And He is faithful! He will never leave nor forsake us. (Deuteronomy 31:6 and 8)
It is that truth which gives hope, sustains and strengthens us and fuels our efforts here in Haiti when we feel discouraged or are sadden from the suffering and hardships we see on a daily basis.
Our God is good all the time. And all the time He is good.
Don't be discouraged! The One who is bigger than you and all your problems both cares for you and wants to take care of your needs. He loves you more than you can ever know or understand and He is all we will ever need.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
It's His promise to us.
Have a blessed day!
In Christ in Haiti, The Manasseros |

Third Annual Haiti Celebration Events
Each year our Haiti Celebration dinners have been wonderful events, and our third annual "non-dinner" events were no exception! The decision to move from a hotel-based dinner event to a more comfortable church setting was made to make the events more affordable and casual for attendees. Held in California on April 19 and 27 at King's Harbor Church in Torrance and Calvary Chapel of Santa Barbara, the special events were filled with fellowship, blessing and inspiration.
Prior to the official start of both evenings, guests met new friends, reconnected with old friends, dined on appetizers, browsed and bought items for sale made by Child Hope through various transition program businesses.
Ariana Manassero, accompanied by Joey Vroom in Torrance and her dad, Bill Manassero, in Santa Barbara, led worship to start each evening. The MC for both events was Chris Cannon, Child Hope Board Member and lead pastor at King's Harbor Church. Speakers included Child Hope founders Bill and Susette Manassero and Child Hope Chairman of the Board Peter Bohlinger. In Santa Barbara, Matt Severson of The School Fund and Kathy Ireland spoke as well.
Visitors heard how God is moving mightily in Haiti and how He provides what is necessary when various needs arise. For example, a young student-architect was looking for a charity project as part of his university requirements. Through God's sovereign networking, this young man connected with Peter Bohlinger at his high school reunion and was able to design and plan the cottages and surrounding areas for the land Child Hope is purchasing in Kenscoff, Haiti!
During each night, guests were able to hear three examples of how God is raising up the young men and women of Child Hope. Through video clips, they learned of Walgens, who runs the T-Shirt Printing business, Israel, who is now heading up our new Technology Program, and Isguerda, a young woman soon to be opening a beauty salon with her recently-reconciled mother as receptionist. The Lord is at work within Walgens, Israel and Isguerda, and they are genuine, Godly examples to their peers.
Our third annual Haiti Celebration Events were a success! God is good and faithful, and he continues to do amazing things through the ministry of Child Hope, with your prayers and support. Thank you! - Gerri Markham

Team Leader Shares Her Experience in Haiti
Katie Tiffany believes that God placed a calling on her heart on New Years Day, January of 2010. She wanted to learn more about Haiti and began Googling the topic. Her research brought her across the paths of Child Hope International, Maison de Lumiere, and the Manassero's. Prior to this time, Tiffany knew nothing about Haiti. Soon, she felt called to go King's Harbor Church-the same church that Bill and Sue Manassero attended in the U.S. She went on January 10, 2010. She learned that the church had scheduled mission trips to Haiti. Two days later the earthquake hit.
After the earthquake, Katie noticed an urgent need for administrative support within Child Hope International (CHI). She began working from home to aid Alicia Simmons, assisting by fielding calls from those wanting to help with the disaster and with administrative duties. She later joined Kings Harbor church permanently. She signed up for a mission trip with Kings Harbor Church and traveled to Port au Prince on June 10, 2010.
Katie's first trip to MDL was amazing. She was placed with what she describes as an incredible team of people "that God hand-picked, each with needed skill sets." The post-disaster atmosphere was chaotic. Volunteers were busy with the new school and clinic. The feeding program had just begun. Teams of volunteers were building pre-fab houses.
When Katie returned home, she was emotionally drained from the experience. Some of the tragedy she had witnessed didn't sink until after she had returned to the United States. She realized though , that she had fallen in love with the people of Haiti and the staff at MDL. She had felt surrounded by people with pure, Godly motives. Said Tiffany, "The volunteers at MDL have sacrificed so much to help the country that it makes you want to work alongside them and support their efforts. The kids melt your heart." Making connections with certain children made her want to re-connect and see their progress.
Katie has visited Haiti 3 times. She said the second trip was exciting because she was able to see how the children had grown spiritually, educationally, emotionally, and physically. Seeing this makes her want to continue to go.
Katie increased her involvement with CHI by helping to organize what has become an annual Celebration Dinner. She had become well acquainted with Alicia Simmons, who was the administrative assistant who was working for CHI at time of earthquake. Simmons moved to Haiti, but returned once she and her husband had a child. Alicia thought the one year anniversary of the earthquake would be a good time to do a fundraiser. Simmons believed that the fundraiser should be a "Celebration" of what God was doing in Haiti-not a reflection of the terrible experience of the earthquake. Bill and Sue Manassero wanted to share the news of the overflow of love, financial help and service that God had provided. The group also wanted to thank people and acknowledge their service. Katie, a wedding planner, used her professional skills to plan the first Celebration. The first dinner sold out and even had a waiting list!
The following year, the planners held two dinners, one in Santa Barbara and one in Long Beach. The majority of attendees are current supporters of CHI. They may sponsor a child, have been to Haiti, or attend a church that works with Child Hope. Attendees are also invited by current sponsors who want to introduce more people to CHI. The Celebrations serve to increase awareness about CHI, and expose persons not already in a relationship with God to God's abundant love and faithfulness.
When asked what she would like others to know about MDL, Tiffany replied, "that Bill and Sue are humble servants of God. It's easy to think that those running missionary organizations must be extraordinary people, but really, they are ordinary people who God uses in extraordinary ways." She wishes that more people realized that God can use them in the same way.
A missions team experience in Haiti is an incredible way for God to use you as he did Katie. If you are interested in hosting or joining a team to Haiti, contact us at info@childhope.org.

Camp-in-a-Box 2013
Camp-in-a-Box 2013 is coming up August 3 through 10th. and will be held at the Global Outreach facilities in Titanyen, about fifteen miles north of Port-au-Prince.
The original idea was to capture a typical Christian summer camp experience, box-it-up and bring it to share with the children of Haiti.
Utilizing a diverse, multi-church, 25-plus person planning team, that includes counselors, activity directors, worship band members, planners, coordinators and a host of others, the camp team prepares months in advance for this amazing event.
If you are interested in participating, supporting or helping sponsor this event, please contact us at info@childhope.org.

Photo of the Month
Recently, Rev. Gerald Robinson and Arnold Polk visited The Lighthouse to teach a team of local men, women and MDL kids how to operate an interlocking block machine that they donated to Child Hope. The block machine will be used to make blocks to build homes, walls and all kinds of things. This valuable machine, which uses local dirt/soil to make blocks, will be used to help build relief homes and for construction efforts at the Kenscoff property.
