TCHS 2016 Prom tickets Texas City High School Prom, Light Up the Night, will be presented by the Class of 2016 on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the San Luis Hotel Ballroom from 8 p.m. until midnight.Tickets are $60 individually or $100 per couple. All tickets are $100 per person at the door.

TCHS Palm Beach attendance incentive
A trip to Palm Beach on May 25 is on the line for a class attendance competition at Texas City High School. The grade levels that keep an average of 96% attendance each day between March 28 and May 23 will get to go. Students can win the trip individually if they miss 2 or fewer days of school during that same time period.

Blocker Theatre Showcase is Thursday
Blocker Middle School is providing a free production of their UIL One-Act Play they performed for Contest. Join the cast and crew of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as well as other students from Theatre Arts Classes in the Blocker Spring Theatre Showcase on Thursday, April 21 at 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. Bus riders may take the 4 p.m. Activity Bus home following the afternoon performance. There will be a Theatre fundraiser following each performance that features Narnian treats and games. Bring a little cash to purchase treats or play games. Tickets to the show though are free!

Non-profit private schools and home schoolers who legally qualify as non-profit (currently hold a 501-C3 certificate) are invited to meet with representatives from Alvin, Clear Creek, Dickinson, Friendswood, Hitchcock, La Porte, Santa Fe, and Texas City Independent School Districts to learn more about federally funded services available for eligible residents of these districts. Athletic Physicals set for Saturday
Athletic Physicals will be conducted at Texas City High School on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enter through the Main Gym. The cost is $20 (cash only) and can be pre-paid now. Bring the 2016-2017 physical forms completed with parent signatures. The $25 (cash only) participation can also be paid at this time for next year.
Students participating in any UIL athletic activity must have an annual physical, completed and on file with the Texas City Athletic Training Staff prior to participation. This includes Sports, Show Choir, ROTC, Band, Stingarettes and Cheerleaders. |
The Eyes of Texas were on Heights
Heights Elementary held their 2nd Grade program last week called "The Eyes of Texas." Students sang and danced to popular Texas tunes.
Heights Elementary 4th grader, Aliyah Flemon, won 1st place in the "Daughters of the Texas Republic" essay contest recently. She read her prized essay at the program also.
Heights Elementary Music Teacher Aaron Patterson and all of 2nd Grade did a fabulous job on their program.

Pre-K/Head Start enrollment begins soon
Pre-Kindergarten/Head Start enrollment in Texas City will be held May 2-5 and again June 6-9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Calvin Vincent Early Childhood Center, located at 1805 13th Avenue North.
Children may qualify for programs if they meet one or more of the following criteria:
� Your child will be four years old on or before September 1, 2016, and
� Family meets National Poverty income or National Free/Reduced-price lunch program guidelines or
� Family is currently receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), or
� Family is currently receiving SSI (Supplemental Security Income), or
� Child is currently in foster care, or
� Family is homeless, or
� Child is unable to speak and comprehend the English language, or
� Is a child of an active duty military member or the armed forces of the US, or
� Child is or has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code. For more details, download the flyer in English or Spanish.

Ladies Night in Cosmetology on May 5th
The State Award-Winning TCHS Cosmetology Department will be hosting a Ladies Night on Thursday, May 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for young ladies 18 years old & up. Clients will have the opportunity to get their hair, make-up and nails done. All appointments should be scheduled through the Cosmetology Department at 409-916-0823 no later than Monday, May 2.

Kendra Scott fundraiser is May 19th
Kendra Scott at Baybrook Mall is having a Kendra Gives Back Party on May 19 to benefit the TCISD Foundation for the Future. Shop anytime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the store or call in your order and Kendra Scott will donate 20% of sales to the Foundation to benefit students and teachers. There will be a Kendra Scott raffle during that time at the store. |
Save the Date for the GT Showcase
Texas City ISD will host the 7th Annual Gifted and Talented Showcase on Monday, May 23 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Nessler Center Wings of Heritage Room. Parents and the community are invited to attend this event that highlights some of the work our GT students have done this year.
