TCHS Scholarship Bulletin
Seniors should be looking into scholarships now if they are planning on going to college next fall. Join a Relay for Life team
Relay for Life is a national event that has two purposes. The first purpose is to raise awareness of cancer and the second purpose is to fund-raise and make progress toward a world without cancer. Relay for Life will be held Friday, April 22
at Stingaree Stadium. It will begin at 6 p.m. with the Survivor and Caregiver lap. If you do not have a Relay for Life team and you would like to participate in this cause, you can join the Texas City High School Angels and Warriors team.

Glimpse inside our schools
Third graders at Northside put together "Tackle the STAAR" treat bags for the 4th grade students. Along with the notes and bags, the Northside Mathletes made motivational posters to cheer the on they crush the STAAR writing test that they took this week.
The Northside Mathletes also pumped up the 4th graders with motivational messages written along the front entry way with sidewalk chalk. The Math Club also created good luck posters and posted them in the 4th grade breezeway.

TCHS 2016 Prom tickets Texas City High School Prom, Light Up the Night, will be presented by the Class of 2016 on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the San Luis Hotel Ballroom from 8 p.m. until midnight.Tickets are $60 individually or $100 per couple. All tickets are $100 per person at the door.

TCHS Palm Beach attendance incentive
A trip to Palm Beach on May 25 is on the line for a class attendance competition at Texas City High School. The grade levels that keep an average of 96% attendance each day between March 28 and May 23 will get to go. Students can win the trip individually if they miss 2 or fewer days of school during that same time period.

Attention Non-Profit Private Schools, Home Schoolers
Non-profit private schools and home schoolers who legally qualify as non-profit (currently hold a 501-C3 certificate) are invited to meet with representatives from Alvin, Clear Creek, Dickinson, Friendswood, Hitchcock, La Porte, Santa Fe, and Texas City Independent School Districts to learn more about federally funded services available for eligible residents of these districts. The meeting will be held at the Cowan Administration Building in Santa Fe ISD, located at 4133 Warpath (Ave T) in Santa Fe, Texas 77510 on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at 1 p.m.

We are in the last 9 weeks of this school year. Spring is really busy but it's also a time when our students really shine in their activities.
We have Architectural Drafting, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Engineering/Robotics, Forensics and Welding students at the State SkillsUSA competition this weekend. We also have Bowling, Powerlifting, and Drumline competing at the State level this weekend. Wow! Good luck!

TCHS UIL One-Act play advances again
Last Thursday, the TCHS Theatre competed at the UIL One-Act Play District Competition performing The Great Gatsby. For the first time, Texas City High School is advancing to Bi-District for One-Act Play. They were awarded all of the following:
- Advancing Play
- Honorable Mention All-Star Cast: Jade Moreno and Sofia Faus
- All-Star Cast: Riley Finn and Riley Harper
This is so exciting! The Great Gatsby competed at Bi-District earlier today. We are eagerly awaiting the awards results!

Varsity Soccer wins first playoff game
The District 23-5A 4th Place TCHS Stings beat the District 24-5A 1st Place Terry Rangers last Thursday after overtime and shootout to advance to the next round of soccer playoffs.
Texas City Stingarees will face the New Caney Porter Spartans on Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m. at Ray Maddry Stadium, located at 828 Sheldon Road in Channelview.
All Tickets (student & adult) are $5 and only sold at the gate on the night of the game. The gate will open at 6:15 p.m.
Texas City will be the visiting team and sit in the east stands. New Caney Porter will be the home team and sit in the west (pressbox) stands.
The winner of this game will play the winner of the Angleton/Port Neches Groves game.

Indoor Percussion Showcase is Friday
The Texas City High School Indoor Percussion is having a free Showcase on Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m. in the TCHS Main Gym. This is the final show in preparation for the State Championship on Sunday, April 3 in Reed Arena in College Station. This is the first time TCHS has had an Indoor Percussion Unit and they have had a very successful year. Throughout their four competitions, they have received medals 3 times receiving First, Second and Third place trophies. Please come out and support the TCHS Indoor Percussion and Percussion Director Benjamin Guillotte as they make school history!

Youthfest & Duck Derby set for April 9th
Texas City Independent School District Foundation for the Future has a lot to quack about this spring as they gear up for the 9th Annual Youthfest and Duck Derby on Saturday, April 9.
There will be 5,000 yellow ducks racing down Sting Creek to the finish line where the Top 10 ducks will win fabulous prizes. One "Lucky Duck" is worth a chance to win a new Ford car or truck valued at $50,000 sponsored by Moody National Bank. In addition to the Duck Derby, Texas City ISD choirs and bands will be performing during the Youthfest. The event begins at 11 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m. The duck launch will be at 3 p.m. Food and fun activities will be available throughout the day.
Stop by Sting Creek, in between the TCISD administration and St. Mary's Catholic Church on 9th Avenue, for a fun-filled family day with many chances to win prizes.
Duck Adoption papers are now on sale and can be purchased from any TCISD student, at any TCISD School, at the Simpson Education Support Center, City Hall, Texas First Bank, the TC-LM Chamber of Commerce and more. You can also adopt online.

 Attention all secondary students, teachers and administrators who love to lip sync! The TCHS cheerleaders have a fun contest for you! Battle at the Mic will be held on April 15 at 7 p.m. at TCHS. Jelly Bean Fun Run winners named
Northside Elementary recently held their Annual Jelly Bean Fun Run for kindergarten students. There was as tie in both the girl's and boy's races. Winners are Zekeria Day, Payton de la Garza

Students excel at First Tee Challenge
Texas City ISD 4th grade students annually participate in The First Tee program. Texas City ISD was represented by 3 students last weekend at the First Tee Championship Challenge at Redstone Golf Course. More than 500 4th graders competed in two sessions.
Northside Elementary's Pete Hipp won First Place Overall Winner and Northside's Emma Iles won 3rd Place Overall Winner. They were both were on the 1st Place Team in the competition. Kohfeldt Elementary's Sammy Skipper also competed.
Their coaches are Melissa Morris and Justin Long from Northside Ryan Welch and Jodi Thompson from Kohfeldt.
The First Tee helps shape the lives of kids and from all walks of life by introducing them to values inherent in the game of golf. Values like integrity, respect and perseverance. In addition to learning fundamentals of the golf swing and the game, the character education and life skills programs help kids prepare for success at school, at home and in their community.

Sting Out Shirt pre-orders for Juniors
Project Grad 2017 is selling the 2017 Sting Out shirt for $15 and is available for incoming Seniors only (current Juniors) at this time. All orders are due by April 19. The entire current Junior Class is encourage to purchase a shirt so they can participate in the picture that will be taken for the football program. These shirts will be sold to everyone else beginning in August. Download the Order Form.
