TCHS Palm Beach attendance incentive
Texas City High School students will have an attendance competition between the classes. The classes that keep an average of 96% attendance each day between March 28 and May 23 will get to go to Palm Beach in Galveston with their entire class. Palm Beach is located inside of Moody Gardens and has several pools, a lazy river and water slides. The trip will be on May 25 and will be paid for by TCHS as a thank you for their dedication to being at school each day.

There are two ways a student can attend the Palm Beach Party. The first is by being in the class, (9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th) that maintains a 96% daily average attendance for the 40-day period. The second way is to win as an individual who does not miss more than 2 days of school from March 28 to May 24. If students falls into either one of these categories, they will have a free trip to Palm Beach with their friends during a school day.

Beginning Monday March 28 TCHS will be hanging the class attendance averages in the cafeteria each day in order for students to keep track of their grade level.

Rotary literacy project impacts TCISD
The Rotary Club of Texas City has been donating "I Like Me" books to kindergarten classes for more than 20 years.

The "I Like Me" book:
  • instills a love of reading
  • fosters positive self-concept
  • creates positive associations toward learning and school
  • helps build character
  • encourage positive behavior
  • promotes community/school interaction and networking
Many of the students treasure these books and keep them forever. The Texas City High School Interact Club joined Rotarians this week to read the students their personalized book. All of these high school students who were in TCISD when they were in kindergarten still have their treasured book.
