This meeting will immediately follow the COM Dual Credit Meeting. Pre-registration will also take place beginning at 6 p.m. this same evening.
Pre-Registration continues for La Marque students
In order to plan for the 2016-17 school year, Texas City ISD will be conducting a Pre-Registration for students who currently live in La Marque ISD boundaries (not currently attending a school in TCISD). We will need preliminary information on all students living in LMISD who are either currently enrolled or who are not but plan to enroll for the 2016-17 school year. The downloaded pre-registration information can be submitted several ways:

1. Online/Email: Email the completed form.
2. Drop-box: Complete the form and drop in box at any current LMISD campus or at Simpson Education Support Center located at 1700 9th Ave. N. in Texas City.
3. Mail: Complete the form and mail to:1700 9th Ave. N. Texas City, TX 77590; Attn: LM Pre-registration
4. In-person: TCISD Administrators will be available from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at La Marque High School on Thursdays,Feb. 18 and Feb. 25 to answer questions and receive the pre-registration cards.

Additional blank forms are available at each LMISD campus. Thank you for your help in preparing for a successful school year for our students in 2016-17!
Formal registration will take place this summer, so parents do not need to provide the typical registration documentation at this time. Parents only need to indicate where they live and if they will be enrolling in public schools currently in LMISD attendance zones.

TCISD named to College Board honor roll
Texas City ISD is one of 130 districts across the U.S. that made the College Board 2015 Gaston Caperton Honor Roll. We are being recognized for creating opportunities for traditionally underrepresented students. The districts featured on the honor roll have expanded access to higher education by providing students with rigorous academic offerings and innovative college-preparation programs. Districts on the honor roll demonstrate significant and consistent growth in the number of underrepresented and low-income students taking college-level courses, and applying to four or more colleges.

"We are thrilled to see a drastic improvement in our participation and scores in AP and SAT testing," said Texas City High School Principal Holly La Roe. "With our diverse population, we encourage all students to be college bound. Our students are exposed to career presentations, military avenues, and college visits to explore future options. We push students to take the SAT and AP exams to be college ready."

There is no application to be on the Honor Roll; instead the College Board looks across multiple data sets to identify recipients. To be included in the Honor Roll, districts must have:

* Increased the number of underrepresented students who took the
SAT;
* Increased the number of underrepresented students who took an AP course and exam;
* Increased the number of underrepresented students who were on-track for college, as demonstrated by scoring 1550+ on the SAT;
* Increased the number of underrepresented students who scored a 3+ on an AP Exam; and
* Increased the number of underrepresented students who sent their SAT scores to at least four colleges.

"TCHS would not be successful without our highly trained teachers. Our AP teachers spend a week in training with the Rice Institute during the summer.   The AP teachers work together over the summer to prepare for the upcoming students at TCHS," said La Roe.
