Early Release on Dec. 18
 Texas City ISD will have an Early Release day on Friday, December 18. Classes begin at the regular time. Breakfast and sack lunches will be served with the exception of only breakfast for PPCD because of their dismissal time. Dismissal time are as follows: PPCD Classes - 10 a.m. Blocker - 11:35 a.m. PreK/Head Start - 11:35 a.m. TCHS - 11:35 a.m. Elementary (K-4) - 12 p.m. Levi Fry - 12:30 p.m. Woodrow-Wilson - 12:40 p.m. Campus staff dismissal is 30 minutes after designated student dismissal for their school. Central Office staff dismissal is 1:30 p.m.

Stripes makes donation A Stripes gas station and convenience store just opened off the Loop in Texas City this week. The Levi Fry Band played at their Grand Opening Ceremony on Monday. Stripes said that when opening a new store giving back to the community is very important to Stripes. Levi Fry Intermediate School was selected by the company to be the recipient of a $1,000 donation.

Seniors should be looking into scholarships now if they are planning on going to college next fall. Here is a comprehensive Scholarship Bulletin that are either available at TCHS in Room B110 (Ms. Rawls) or online. Students should read through each summary to determine eligibility. SFA Pre-Law Academy
Stephen F. Austin State University is having a Pre-Law Academy this summer that TCHS students can apply for. It is the only Pre-Law Academy in Texas designed for high school juniors and seniors. More Details

TCHS Robotics excels again in contest
TCHS Robotics team 590 competed this past Saturday in the Urban STEM Robotics League tournament at Space Center Houston. The team was selected as part of the 2nd seed alliance going into eliminations with teams from Kountze High School and Lamar High School. The alliance was eliminated 2 games to 1 in the best of 3 semifinals. TCHS also ranked 3rd in programming skills and 6th in robot skills.
Congratulations to robotics teacher James Jobe and robotics team comprised of Victor Garms, Matthew Jecker, Hannah Rose, Thomas Armstrong, Sam Moon and Celeste Lindusky.

TCHS choir students advance to Pre-Area
This past weekend, 5 TCHS Choir students participated in the TMEA Pre-Area competition in Pearland. All 5 advanced to the TMEA Area competition, which will be held on January 9! At the Area level, these students will be competing for a spot in one of the three TMEA All State Choirs. Congratulations to Sofia Faus, Veronica Stovich, Meg Treadwell, Nico Strom-McKee and Riley Harper.
"These students have been working on this Texas All State Choir music since July, and their work paid off," said TCISD Choral Director Kathy Skinner. "Membership in a Texas All State Choir is one of the highest honors a Texas choir student can achieve.
Their very proud directors are Kathy Skinner and Rico D. Hamilton. Good luck, Stings!

Student Christmas Card winners named
Texas City ISD annually holds a Christmas Card verse and art contest among the schools. This year's verse was written by Elyzabeth Sandoval, a 12th grade student at Texas City High School. Her English teacher is Courtney Pugh. This year's, art was created by Maria Martinez, a 12th grade student at Texas City High School. Her art teacher is Jennifer Massie. Pictured left to right are School Board President Manual Guajardo, Jr., Ms. Massie, Maria, Mrs. Pugh, Elyzabeth, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Cynthia Lusignolo. Dark skies, cold air Christmas lights everywhere. Children laughing, Angels singing Wondering what St. Nick is bringing! The presents, the tree, Oh what a sight to see. The family gathered around, Dancing to the sound. How glorious to be Spending Christmas with family.

 We have been notified by TEA Commissioner The TCISD Foundation for the Future is preparing for Duck Season again in Texas City. The Foundation is celebrating our students for the 9th year at the Texas City ISD Youthfest & Duck Derby on April 9th. The Foundation is signing up event sponsors now through January 18. The sponsorship form has more details. If you don't want to sponsor the event but would be interested in sponsoring prizes, please get more details on the prize form.
