Cheerleaders visit sick children in the hospital  
TCHS Cheerleaders visited UTMB Children's Hospital this week. The patients loved seeing the cheerleaders and mascot. It's nice to see our students volunteering their time to other people and causes.


 
Hall of Honor Tickets  
The TCISD Foundation for the Future is holding an induction ceremony and banquet for recipients being inducted into the 10th Annual Hall of Honor on October 22, 2015, at the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center. The community is invited to purchase tickets to attend the dinner and silent auction. The Honorees Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction begins at 5 p.m. with Dinner at 5:45 p.m. and Program at 6:45 p.m. Individual tickets are $60 and tables of 8 can be purchased for $600. Seating is limited so reserve early. For more information about the dinner or about the Hall of Honor, call 409-916-0108 or e-mail Deborah Laine.
 
 
Volleyball fundraiser   
The TCHS Volleyball teams are selling spirit shirts. They are Sting/Stingaree specific and not volleyball specific. Contact any volleyball player to order.
 
Stingarette Dance Camp
The Texas City High School Stingarettes will host their annual Youth Dance Camp for girls and boys ages 5-14 (Kindergarten-8th grade) on Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the TCHS gym. Early registration is on Thursday, October 8, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the TCHS cafeteria (back entrance). Registration will also be available on the morning of the clinic beginning at 8:30 a.m.
 
Cost is $30 at early registration or $35 on the day of the camp.  This includes a clinic t-shirt, a picture with Stingarette group leaders, and lunch (pizza and a drink). Additional spirit items will be for sale in the lobby.
 
Dance camp participants will show off their age group dances and the camp dance beginning at 1:30 p.m. for family and friends.

Cheer Alumni event 
Texas City High School Cheerleader Alumni are encouraged to cheer on the sidelines during the second quarter of the Homecoming game on October 23. All cheer alumni must register and make payment by 5 p.m. October 9. Registration is $25 and includes a T-shirt for free general admission to the game.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Stingaree Stadium against the Willowridge Eagles. The Cheer Alumni Show Off begins in the 2nd Quarter.

Email the Cheer Boosters with any questions. Once registration has been received, additional information, cheers and chants will be emailed.  

 

Soccer Booster Club selling ornaments
The Soccer Booster Club is currently selling Christmas ornaments for $10 each.  They are made of shatterproof plastic with the Stings logo and name imprinted on both sides.  Please email Kristi Rambin if you are interested.

Normally Varsity football games are played on Saturday but since we are in a District with Fort Bend ISD, we do have some Saturday games. This week is one of them. Saturday night's Varsity football game will be broadcast live on the internet at through CMC Communications.

Superintendent's Academic Achievement
Award for 2014-2015 honored recently
The Superintendent's Academic Achievement Award promotes academic excellence and recognizes students who demonstrate exemplary academic scholarship in grades 5-12. Students must maintain an A average for every course each semester, meet attendance requirements each semester and maintain an excellent discipline record in order to receive the award. The Academic Achievement Award recipients are listed with the number of years they have received the award.

Heights Heroes promotes goodness
Heights Elementary kicked off their Heights Hero program last week. Students learn that heroes don't have to wear capes. Each one of them could be a hero to someone else by doing the right thing and helping others. Teachers danced and sang a song about Heights Heroes to the tune of Uptown Funk. Everyone in the school signs the Hero banner.

 
TCHS Choir to host Princess Tea Party
Hear ye! Hear ye! All royal princesses in Kindergarten through Fourth grade are cordially invited to attend a regal princess tea! Join us for the first TCHS Choir Princess Tea Party on Saturday, October 17th from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. You are welcome to wear your favorite princess gown. The festivities will include a picture with a royal princess, face painting, wand and crown decorating, games, a sing-a-long and more. The royal servants will serve dessert and lemonade to the princesses in training and provide a concert.  The preregistration cost for this event is $20 or $25 at the door. Preregister Tuesday, October 13th and Thursday, October 15th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Stingaree Stadium. Download the application. Please direct any questions to Lisa Castaneda
 
College Week at Kohfeldt...school spirit
It's never to early to start talking to your children about college and their future careers. Kohfeldt Elementary hosted College Week again this year.
