Reading Fair at R-W

Roosevelt-Wilson Library recently held a 2nd Grade Reading Fair, sponsored by a TCISD Foundation for the Future grant named for South Land Title.

Librarian Ricci Rodgers said, "Our fair was not a contest but an introduction to formal presentations and a precursor to the school's annual Science Fair for Grades 3-4." As prizes, each 2nd grader who chose to complete a project was awarded a free copy of the book in their presentation. "Now with the projects on display in the library to encourage reading, we are all winners," said Mrs. Rodgers.

The 2nd Grade Readers Showcase will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2 in conjunction with R-W PTO meeting at the school.  Students are encouraged to dress in costume or bring additional props to entice the crowd to read the books on display!

Class of 2016 senior portrait details

Senior year is just around the corner for current juniors. TCHS has already given out postcard coupons with information regarding senior portraits for the class of 2016. These services are provided by Gulf Coast Imaging Studios in Texas City at 1218 14th Street North. Senior yearbook photos are taken at the studio free of charge. If you choose to upgrade and use the discount, please show the studio the postcard. You can book your appointment for over the summer and relieve some of the stress that the new school year brings. The studio number is 409-945-5055. Remember that senior portraits must be taken early to appear in the yearbook. The cut-off date will be announced after the 2015-16 school year begins. That date is usually early October. If you have any questions regarding senior portraits, please e-mail  Jennifer Kunard.
