Canadian Human Rights Tribunal News
In 2007 the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society and the Assembly of First Nations launched a human rights complaint at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal alleging that the Federal government underfunds First Nations child welfare agencies. After years of delay due to federal appeals, evidence regarding the complaint was finally heard at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal beginning on February 25, 2013. The case has significant ramifications for First Nations children, families and communities. Due to government disclosure of over 50,000 documents, the tribunal hearings adjourned until July 15, 2013. The hearings continue through the end of August.

For more information visit the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society, and for streaming video of the hearings you can visit Aboriginal People's Television Network.

Kinark's Rise Against Stigma Campaign
One in five children will be diagnosed with a mental health issue, such as depression or anxiety, serious enough to affect school, social or family life.
To support kids, Kinark Child and Family Services launched a campaign called 'Rise Against Stigma'. The campaign is led by two former Kinark youth, Jacob and Jessica who struggled with bullying and depression.

The pledge is meant to show kids that they are safe to ask for help. It also shows that mental health is important to you.
