 HEADLINES
BIKE FRIENDLY LAKEVIEW

The Lakeview and Lakeview East Chambers of Commerce have partnered for a Bike Friendly Business District program! This program promotes shopping local and markets our neighborhood businesses to a growing and vibrant customer group: people who ride bikes!

Spring is a great time to #BikeLakeview, and throughout National Bike Month in May, local bike-friendly businesses will be offering great deals and partnering with the Lakeview and Lakeview East Chambers of Commerce to give away prizes to people biking our neighborhood! Here's how to seek out deals and prizes by bike:

Bike to Lakeview Businesses. Ride your bike to businesses participating in Lakeview's Bike-Friendly Business program, you can find participating businesses here. Just show your helmet to take advantage of bike-friendly deals. You'll find an Everyday Biking guide on the website to get started.

Share Your Experience. Throughout May, post about your bike visits with a shout-out to the business on Instagram and/or Twitter using the hashtag #BikeLakeview for a chance to win great prizes. Post photos and share you favorite things at each business!

Win Prizes. The more businesses you visit, the better chance you have of winning. No purchase necessary to win.
MURAL AT 3311 N. BROADWAY
ARTIST: MARK HANSEN

Mark Hansen received his BA in Art and Art History from Augustana College and his MA in Painting from NIU. Mark's paintings draw from various sources, including architecture, children's building blocks, grid-based patterns, and hand-painted paper signs. Working with forms and shapes that are consistent with his paintings on canvas - the scale, placement and relationships on this mural were dictated by this location specially. Mark wanted to bring attention to certain architectural elements of the facade, while making visual plays off others. The color palette was partially influenced by the immediate neighborhood. In the end, it was his intent to develop a piece of public art that is serious yet playful and hopefully engaging to the community.
BIKE THEFT PREVENTION

Help the CAPS 19th district deter bicycle thefts. Thieves are less likely to steal a bike that they know is registered with the police. Simply register your bicycle at ChicagoPolice.org and bring proof of registration to the 19th District Commmunity C+Policing Office and receive a security decal to affix to your bike. If the decal is peeled "void" appears as a result. If the bicycle is stolen and recovered, it can be traced back and returned to the rightful owner.

For more information, contact the 19th District Community Policing Office at 312-744-0064 or CAPS019district@chicagopolice.org
