Botanica: All Things Plant Life

From 16th Century Flemish painters, to CÚzanne and the Post Impressionists, the color, variety, and symbolism found in plant life has made it a popular subject for artistic inspiration. Botanica features over 100 artists drawing on these themes to create artwork that explores how plant life can be represented in a diverse reach of media.
The exhibition was juried by Ken Harman of Hashimoto Contemporary and Spoke Art in San Francisco and MacKenzie Stevens of the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
Opening Reception: Sunday, July 12, 3 to 5 p.m.
$5 Admission, wine and hors d'oeuvres hosted by the Bedford Gallery Guild. Free for Friends of the Bedford.

Paper Poppies Workshop with Tiffanie Turner

In this workshop, Botanica artist Tiffanie Turner will teach you how to make your own Icelandic poppies which can be displayed on their own or worked into floral crowns and garlands. Light breakfast and coffee will be provided.
Public Art Walking Tours
Hear the stories behind Walnut Creek's wonderful Public Art collection. Docent-led tours meet in front of the Lesher Center for the arts at 11 a.m. every third Saturday, April through November. Cost is $5 and includes admission to Bedford Gallery. Comfortable walking shoes, water, and sunscreen are recommended.
