 January 2014

Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Things were great at my house.

I'm getting ready for a trip to San Diego. I will be out of the store from January 9-14. Cathy and Kim will be in the store to help you. If the weather looks bad, please call before you head to the store. Both ladies are coming from out of town and if there is a storm they won't be making the trip.

What am I doing while I'm away? I will be looking at the new yarns, books, needles, accessories and bags for spring. There will be visiting with friends as well. Oh yeah, a trip to the zoo is in the plans too. I will be blogging from San Diego - there should be great pictures of 'the new' for spring.

Rowan
Magazine #55
The new magazines and yarns from Rowan for spring should be in the store by the end of the month. There are some awesome garments in Magazine #55.

There are three sections to the magazine.

Legacy...is inspired by ancient, worn landscapes and patterning that can be found in rock formations.

Clarity...is inspired by the delicate beauty of historic lace and Irish crochet making.

Essentials...the showcase of key shapes of the season but translated into simple easy to wear styles that will compliment the season's essential looks.

Hats
It is really cold out
For the past few weeks I've been thinking about something and it's time to start. There are many people (men, women and children) in the Hamilton area who don't have hats to wear this winter.

I'm asking you to make a hat (knit or crochet). This doesn't have to be expensive yarn. (I think that machine washable would be the best.) Or a fancy pattern. Go through your stash and grab some yarn. If you don't have anything in your stash we have lots of yarns that will work. There are many, many patterns on Ravelry for hats. If you can't find one, email me with the thickness of yarn that you are going to work with. All we ask is that this is a new hat.

Bring your finished hat into the store by the end of January 2014 and we will give you a coupon for 10% off a future purchase. The coupon will be good until the end of June, 2014 so you have lots of time to use it. If you make more than one hat we will give you more than one coupon but the coupons can not be combined with each other or any discount in the store. Only one at a time please.

We are also going to have a draw for a Soakbox. Every hat will get one entry. On February 1, 2014 we will draw and two people will win a Soakbox - your choice from the kits in stock.

Knitting Camp
Thursday September 18-Sunday September 21, 2014
Sally Melville
The brochure is almost done! We are so excited about Knitting Camp 2014. Sally Melville and Kate Atherley will be teaching this year. Wait. I'm going to do a bit of teaching as well.

If you have any questions about Camp, please send me an email. All levels of knitters are welcome. And don't worry if you can't find someone to come with you. We can find you a room mate.

This is from a Happy Camper
"I have been going for 4 years. The first two I went by myself. I ended up sharing with two wonderful and friendly people (I myself am usually standoffish). I really enjoyed myself. Met wonderful people. Last year I brought my daughter with me she was a very beginner beginner. She had learned so much and had a blast."
