Sex offender tells FOX25 he had active account as Uber driver
A Level 2 sex offender - convicted of rape of a child with force - was a driver for Uber until FOX25 investigates began questioning the app-driven ride sharing company. This is the second time FOX25 Investigates has found a registered sex offender driving for Uber. In June, FOX25 reported State Police at Logan Airport stopped an Uber driver - who also turned out to be a Level 2 sex offender. Stephen C. Tremblay, 66, was wearing an Uber T-shirt when FOX25 Investigates found him at his Bedford home.
St. Louis rape investigation delayed by Uber's 'technical obstacles'
A woman believes that an Uber driver may have witnessed her being raped by a man in the back of his vehicle last month - and also that the company and St. Louis police are dragging their heels in the investigation. Police refuse to comment about the investigation, but told the woman and her mother that "technical obstacles" were preventing Uber from providing information.
Poor Behavior: When will the Uber brand reach breaking point?
The Uber brand is at an inflection point. Sure, the company has a projected current gob smacking valuation of $68 billion. However, in the past year, Uber has been playing fast and loose with not only their drivers but their customers as well, and their very high profile, seemingly Teflon brand, may be set to unravel. Evidence is building. In January, Uber implemented a bold 15% reduction in fares, purportedly to boost their user base.
'I don't feel safe anymore': Woman claims Uber driver lunged at her, shoved tongue in mouth
A woman says her Uber ride ended in shock as she was left fighting off an attack allegedly by her driver. Kris Brix says she's always liked the ride-sharing company because it's fast and cheap. But, she says, she no longer feels safe alone at night with the drivers. The final straw was in the early morning hours last Saturday. She says she took an Uber from the Redondo Beach Pier to her parked car in Marina del Rey. But, she says, when she got out, the driver did too.
Bronx mom whose 12-year-old was fatally struck by Uber car sues driver, school and crossing guard
An Uber driver's fatal collision last year with a 12-year-old boy on a Harlem street has sparked a $5 million lawsuit by the child's mother. The new lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court says the driver, the boy's school and the crossing guard all failed Evri Secundino-Apolinar - who was hit as he ran across Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. outside his school, Frederick Douglass Academy.
Uber in dare to judge says it's ready to ditch driver deal
Uber Technologies Inc.'s message to the judge who must approve its $100 million settlement with drivers is clear: take it or leave it. In an escalating game of courtroom brinkmanship, Uber has hit what may be an impasse with U.S. District Judge Edward Chen over its demand that, as part of the deal, he erase his own order intended to protect the ride-hailing company's drivers.
Family of man hit crossing street in Beverly Hills sues Uber, driver
The widow and three sons of an 85-year-old man struck and killed last year in Beverly Hills by a vehicle driven by an Uber employee are suing the ride-hailing company and the man who was behind the wheel. Shahin Ohebsion Dayani and her offspring, Hank, H. Sean and Hooman Dayani, are seeking unspecified damages in their wrongful death lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against Uber and driver Albert Hakoupians.
Lyft is bleeding hundreds of millions of dollars
Lyft is bleeding a lot of money fighting Uber.  The ride-hailing company has long played second fiddle to Uber in terms of marketshare in the U.S., but in a new story out today from The Wall Street Journal's Greg Bensinger and Rolfe Winkler, it's clear just how bad things are. In 2015, Lyft posted an operating loss of $360 million revenue of about $200 million, a person familiar with the company's financial statements told the Journal.
