Elected to the National Academy of Engineering
One of the highest professional honors accorded an engineer

S. Jack Hu, a University of Michigan (U-M) Mechanical Engineering Professor noted for leadership in the field, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).

Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer.

Dedication of New ME Research Complex a Success
Ceremony brings alumni, industry and government representatives to campus
U-M ME's new 62,880-square-foot mechanical engineering research complex is now officially open. The dedication ceremony took place on Oct. 10, 2014.

ME ARC Received $40 Million in Funding
ARC enters fourth phase in TARDEC contract
ME's Automotive Research Center (ARC) is celebrating more than its 20th anniversary this year. The Center is also able to continue to thrive thanks to a $40 million, five-year contract renewal with the United States Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC).

Two ME Faculty Receive 2015 NSF CAREER Awards

ME Assistant Professors Xiaogan Liang and C. David Remy were selected by the National Science Foundation (NSF) as 2015 CAREER Awardees. The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program offers awards to junior faculty who have exemplified the ideal teacher-scholar dynamic.
