Webinar on Driving Strategic Convergence to Deliver Real Business Value
The Case for BRM: Example Scenarios
by Joe Topinka
The following are examples of real-world scenarios that paved the way for the BRM role at three different companies. This is a companion white-paper to The Case for BRM: A Practical Framework for Your CEO Conversation. Use this document to guide your BRM capabilities business case.

Each of the following scenarios leverages field research to gain insight into each company's challenges. This approach illuminates the roadblocks that negatively impact customer engagement, as well as the associated investments needed to overcome them. While the scenarios in this piece do not cover all of the in-depth stages involved in building your case for BRM, they do highlight the essential aspects of field research and discovery---one of the most important skills a BRM must have in their toolbox.

A Rose by Any Other Name: The BRM Capability, Structure, and Success across the Organization
by Santosh Kadatare
As someone who has seen the BRM capability in its various forms throughout my career, I was incredibly surprised when I saw the widespread adoption of the BRM capability across organizations making recent headlines. Was the convergence of BRM and the business really something new? Had I been one of the lucky few to see the BRM capability in action for all these years? I had lots of questions, but then I realized where the true novelty lies: not in the nascence of BRM itself as a discipline, but in the formal recognition of the BRM capability as a key skill area!

Adopting the BRM Capability at the University of Oxford's IT Services
by Tony Brett
Back in August, I had the pleasure of taking the Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP) foundation course, and followed by passing the exam a few weeks later. It was especially helpful to complete this online course alongside a colleague, as we had plenty of opportunity to reflect on how the topics we studied made sense in our own context-that is, being an IT Service provider at a large, world-renowned federated university. Here, I want to share the specific lessons that I believe will be particularly helpful to us in our unique environment.

Leading Edge Forum works with organizations in several ways to improve BRM excellence, providing services that help them understand where they are today, outline where they want to go, and provide guidance on how to get there through Collaborative Diagnostic Studies, IT or Business Leadership Workshops, Training Programs for Business Relationship Managers, and Value Realization (which includes coaching, mentoring, booster sessions, and communications workshops).

Through this strategic alliance, BRMI and LEF expect that their collaboration will lead to more effective knowledge-sharing, increased support for business relationship managers, and invaluable networking opportunities for professionals and organizations alike, which will significantly strengthen the BRM discipline and the value it brings to those organizations.
Maximizing business value from investments in information and technology

This is a brief overview of the enhanced opportunities for business value from investments in information and technology that enterprises can unlock by combining the guidance provided in Business Relationship Management Institute's BRMBOKTM with the ASL BiSL Foundation's Business Information Services Library (BiSL). The explicit distinction between information and technology emphasizes that the business needs information, and that technology is the enabler. Information and technology are intimately intertwined, yet each needs to be managed in its own right. The business is responsible for deciding what information and capabilities they need, and their IT partners are responsible for enabling the business to leverage the best available technology. Mutual understanding and close collaboration is crucial for maximizing business value from investments in these two business assets. BRMBOK and BiSL offer guidance from differing yet complementary perspectives in pursuit of a common goal. The Business Relationship Management Institute and the ASL BiSL Foundation offer more guidance and support such additional publications, training and certification programs, webinars, and conferences.
Well in advance of the CBRM launch planned for Q2 2016, we formed the CBRM Content Development Team comprising of renowned Business Relationship Management (BRM) experts, trainers, game changing BRM practitioners, and senior business executives to create this training and certification program. Meet the invaluable contributions and leadership of team behind the development of the Certified Business Relationship Management (CBRM) professional development and certification program!
