Greetings Virginia ASCD members! The hustle and bustle of summer is over and a new school year brings smiling faces and students excited to embark on another journey. Each year, I look forward to the first day of school as it quickly reminds us of the reason for our persistent work.

Speak Up! Someone's Listening!
Virginia Board of Education President Chris Braunlich, is holding public "Listening Tour" meetings in all regions of the state in the coming weeks. Educators and community members are invited to speak on issues relevant to public schools.
This month, the Board will vote on assessment guidelines that are intended to provide direction on assessment practices in grades and content areas where SOL tests have recently been eliminated.
