 Inspiration  Education   Motivation Fellowship  

 

Date: Tuesday, July 1, 2014 
Time: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. 
Location: Saint Elizabeth Tapestry Room
Topic: "Putting Movement First"- Anthony Sobotka, Exercise Physiologist, will present and help inspire us to be more active. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and experience simple fun movement.

Date: Tuesday, August 5, 2014
Time: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Location: Saint Elizabeth Rose Room
Topic: "Hobbies and Interests Following Weight Loss Surgery" - Sharon J., postop patient, will discuss the importance of incorporating joy into our lives in order to provide balance - part of the weight loss journey. 

All patients, family members and support persons are welcome to attend. If you are preparing for your surgery, please join us as well!

Announcing NEW   

Exercise Class  

"Reshape Your Workout" 

 

Saint Elizabeth Bariatric Program is proud to announce a new Exercise Class to be held at the hospital. This is to help those who have had weight-loss surgery stay on track and develop your own workout routine.

   

We all know how important physical activity is in our daily life to be healthy. It is also an important component of weight management.  Many of us struggle with incorporating regular activity into our daily routines, and we need all the support we can get.

 

Our goal is to help reshape your workout so it is designed for you. This includes:

  • getting you started with gentle movements  
  • providing support and fellowship  
  • exercises designed for any fitness level from the beginner, intermediate or advanced
  • utilizing simple workout equipment - medicine balls, resistance bands, etc. 
  • progression and regression levels for every exercise - you will be monitored for an appropriate level of exercise during workouts
  • making exercise and activity fun and beneficial at any level of fitness - with the emphasis on FUN!

Reshape Your Workout   

 

Class Begins: Tuesday, July 8, 2014

  • 4 weeks, twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday (7/8, 7/10, 7/15, 7/17, 7/22, 7/24, 7/29 and 7/31) 

Time: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.  

Location: Saint Elizabeth Rose or Franciscan Room (lower level)

Fee for class: $45.00 (for eight sessions)

Fitness Leader: Annette Reeves, Exercise Therapist

Recipe of the Month 

 
Grilled Orange-Ginger Chicken

From Chef Dave 

 

Recipe Serves Four  

 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded thin
  • 1 tablespoon zest of a fresh orange
  • 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons grated ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 bunch scallions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste 
 
Directions:
  1. Place all ingredients into a self-sealing plastic bag, and marinate for 1 to 8 hours
  2. Remove chicken from marinade and save marinade to brush on chicken
  3. Pre-heat grill  
  4. Set chicken on grill and cook for 7 - 8 minutes on each side until juices run clear
  5. Brush with remaining marinade half way through cooking.  
  6. NOTE: Discard any remaining marinade  

Nutrition Analysis for one serving:

Calories: 156 

Fat: 4 gm

Protein: 26 gm

Carbohydrate: 3 gm

Sodium: 75 mg
