Tips for Eating Healthy
When Eating Out
  • Water with a slice of lemon, sugar-free tea, coffee or low-fat milk
  • Open face sandwiches or a lettuce wraps
  • Salad dressing on the side
  • Steamed, grilled or broiled dishes
  • Half your food to be put into a carryout box, before you are served
  • Appetizer instead of a regular entree
  • Share a main dish with a friend or spouse
  • Instead of the all-you-can-eat buffet, order menu items to control portion size
  • On long trips, pack some fresh fruit, cut-up vegetables, string cheese or nuts with cereal as a snack

It takes time to plan ahead to be successful when eating out - you are in charge and can help control how and what you eat.  And remember to "Enjoy your Food"!

Patient Reunion
There is no reunion this year, but we are already busy planning for the 2013 patient reunion. Please mark your calendar for our Holiday Party on Tuesday, December 4 from 5:30 - 6:30 in the Saint Elizabeth Rose Room.

Fall Into Exercise

The weather is just the right temperature for us to get out and get moving! We know that exercise aids in weight loss by burning more calories, but don't forget the additional benefit of helping elevate our mood to help us feel better.

  • Take baby steps - just one step at a time
  • Set an achievable goal: just walk 10 minutes for 1 week, then increase it to 15 minutes, etc.
  • Ask a buddy to walk with you

You will feel better - about yourself and your healthy body. It does a body good!
