 Get Your Swim Fins Ready!

The first day of Summer was June 21st, but for residents of SW Florida it's been Summer for sometime now.

This year, Winter turned almost immediately to Summer with just a few days that could be attributed to "Spring".

Now that school is out and the kids are using the pool more, take a few minutes to teach pool safety. And don't forget all your Northern visitors. They'll need to know the "Pool Rules", too!

Also, make sure to keep the pool in good condition. Hot weather and lots of rain can eat up chemicals quickly!

If you have any questions on care or upkeep, please feel free to give us a call. We'll be glad to help!

Sincerely,

DIY Ideas...

Build or Plant for Privacy

In this day and age, it seems that we're building larger homes but lot sizes haven't changed that much, which puts our neighbors within view or earshot of our little piece of Paradise.

There are many ways to maintain your privacy at all different price points...from hanging shades or curtains at the edge of your lanai, to privacy plantings to building walls and fences.

This Old House has an article (written by Sal Vaglica) with some interesting ideas. To view the 10 photos (and get "how to" advice on building a picket fence) visit this site page.

Remember, check with city or county regulations to make sure your privacy selection is within local codes and if permits are needed.

The Nautilus Shell

Did you ever wonder how logos are chosen? There are so many that are a familiar part of our lives that we never think about how they were chosen.
26 years ago when we were deciding on a name for our new company, I came upon an article about the nautilus mollusk. If memory serves me, this sea creature was considered the "master shell builder". As it grows it closes its previous living chamber and creates a new larger chamber to accommodate its larger size. The old chambers are sealed off creating pressurized areas that regulate buoyancy.
There were similarities in the mollusks' shell creation and how we build a pool...layers of construction, pressurized application of materials, as well as growing and expanding with new technologies...I realized that we were "master pool shell builders"!

Even with all the new technologies and products available, building a quality custom pool (like the nautilus building its shell) takes time. Technology has helped us create a better pool but hasn't really saved us much in building time. Of course, today we add a lot of design features and whistles & bells...it's not the old, plain rectangle swimming pool, anymore.

And now, 26 years later, I'm still happy with our choice of a nautilus shell as our logo and know that we've done justice to our namesake!

Featured Product

Unobstructed Views with New Screen Enclosures

Get a big "picture window" effect by eliminating horizontal rails and reducing the amount of vertical posts. Expanses can be up to 32' wide by 10' high!
Depending on the size of the screened area, some enclosures can actually have no posts or rails as in this side view of the cage. Notice that the long side (at the back of the photo) also has a minimum of vertical posts and no horizontal rails.

For taller enclosures, the horizontal rail can be raised above eye level. For this project short vertical posts were added to the high rail to create a decorative effect
