Talk about the "dog days"
of Summer...
Is it exceptionally hot and humid this year or is it just me? It really is the perfect time to be using your pool.Air conditioning is great but there is nothing that can compare to a dunk in the pool to cool you off on a hot day! Not only will it lower your body temperature for quite a while, it is relaxing and a good source for exercise.
If you've been thinking about it for a while, now is a great time to "take the plunge". Give us a call and we'll be happy to meet with you and discuss the options. In the meantime, keep cool and stay out of the heat!
Sincerely,
Pete Coccaro

Extend Your Living Area Beyond the LanaiIn Florida, everyone seems to utilize their screened lanai's to the fullest extent, often forgetting that their backyard (or side yard) could be part of their living area, too. Your yard can offer a variety of "havens" created from little nooks and corners within the landscape. They can beautify a poor view or soften a structure like a fence or shed. Here are some ideas from "This Old House" that may give you inspiration to broaden your landscape horizons and extend your living area...This backyard retreat would fit nicely in a small corner or side yard. ***** Add a Living Arch...create an arbor with plants trained up the side and out onto the overhanging eaves of a shed (even if yours isn't this rustic) or add an arbor against a fence. Anchor plants and contain aggressive species, by growing them in pots.
A dozen flagstones arranged in a free-form pattern can easily turn a small patch of grass into an intimate dining area. Grow grass between the stones or choose a traffic-resistant groundcover. Add a small weatherproof table and chairs like this bistro set and you've got the perfect place to rest while gardening or enjoy your morning coffee and a good book!
If the area is very dark or the shed wall or fence is too drab, hang an inexpensive mirror. It will reflect light and create a lovely focal point. For more great ideas go to This Old House

Did you know we design our own
Screen Enclosures?
While some homeowners are opting for pools without screen enclosures, the majority still favor having them. The benefits include keeping insects in check, not having to worry about leaves and grass clippings getting in and even cutting down on the amount of sunlight!
At Nautilus, not only is Pete Coccaro the pool contracting licensee but he also has a specialty aluminum license. This provides our clients the advantage of his expertise for the design, function, and engineering aspect of the screen enclosure to insure a well constructed unit. Each screen enclosure is engineered specifically to meet the needs and aesthetics of each home, versus having a master plan that is not suitably tailored for an individual project. Since building lots (and their homes) come in many shapes, it often means that the lanai and pool area are designed to conform to the shape of the land (triangular tip lots for example). This gives us a unique opportunity to design the enclosure to fit. We use the finest installers and feature the most up to date products to insure a long lasting enclosure. For example, along with quality screening and aluminum, the plastic covered Nylo-Tec fasteners used throughout the construction of our frames help to avoid rusty screws which can affect the overall durability of the enclosure.
