 Featured Pool...

This pool features an interesting contemporary design. The rectangular shape allows for clear swim space as the steps do not impede on the swim area. Even the spa (with a poolside disappearing edge ) was set off to the side to mimic the step entry. Reclaimed Chicago brick was used as coping while White Pearl Pebble Tec covers the interior. (Deck by others)

Pool Safety!
Nothing Replaces Adult Supervision!

It's Red Cross National Swim Safety Month and I'd like to go over some of the products that are available to safeguard your pool, children and guests. According to federal law existing pools built before 2004 are exempt from the Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act but new pools built after 2004 are mandated to follow the rules for equipping home pools with safety features such as:

1. Baby Safety Fences
2. Alarms on doors and windows leading to the pool area
3. Safety covers
4. Pools detached from the home have to have fencing on all sides.

For more detailed information and actual description of the law please go to Florida Code. The Red Cross also has a great website page dedicated to Swim Safety.

Even though the Pool Safety Act is mandated for pools built after 2004, please realize that EVERY pool should be secured no matter when it was installed.Your pool is a great addition to your home and will offer many hours of fun and healthy exercise if you take the time to make it safe, too.

Outdoor Upgrades for Under $75

Add Bold Color

Paint your garden gate a vivid color. Red makes a bold contrast against green leaves and grass.

Open Up a Small Space

Hang a mirror on a patio wall to give a small space a more expansive feel. It'll appear as if you were looking through a window to another outdoor room. Choose a mirror with a weather-resistant resin frame, and seal its inner edges with silicone caulk to prevent water from seeping behind the glass.

Light Up Your Deck

Run rope lights under your bottom deck rail for atmospheric night lighting.
